If i flash it use the CURE option, the drive and sdcard will appear momentarily for 2-3 secs before they shutdown. I was able to copy it during this time.
The only time the drive and sdcard appears in explorer is when i use the CURE option. But the device will shutdown in 2 secs.
When flashed in original mode, Garmin Express, G7ToWin, GarminCure3 and every other software can see and talk to the device. Below is an excerpt from G7ToWin. (but it won't show in explorer or windows disk management). Cleaned the port and tried on USB 3 ports and USB powered hubs as well.
Am able to select different voices and vehicles. The renaming of nuvix2andx4_GCDFile__390.gcd to GUPDATE.GCD and booting from sdcard\garmin\GUPDATE.GCD location did not trigger a flash.
Hope the garmindevice.xml provides some clues...

Everything looks good.
I think you have a Hardware Fault.
Have you tried to contact Garmin Support ?
Please delete your Garmindevice.xml from web also your unit id.
Another trick
copy this file to an SD Card in folder named garmin.
Express will then See your device and you will be able to update maps.
You might be able to use Running programs from SD on nuvi to copy files to Nuvi.
Some users survive this way.

Garmin Map Updater recognizes the devices but the map update always maps. Maybe because the filesystem is not natively accessible in Windows.
Am able to copy the maps offline to the SDCard and load them that way. So have a workaround that allows this device to be usable. Think I’ll survive just fine this way.
