Default Unable to create backup of nüvi 66LMT rgn 41

I tried to create a backup of rgn 41 of my nüvi 66LMT but failed, yet the update.log states that the process was successful:

nüvi x5 Software Version 2.20, UID: xxxxxxxxxx, HWID: xxxxxxxxxx
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Parsing "rrgn,41,1:/41.bin"
    Success
    Parsing "reboot"
    Instead of a 41.bin file, I get a last_id.bin file with a size of 1 KB only.

I used Nuvi65&66_220.gcd to create the Ldr.bin file. I am aware FW version 2.70 has been released, but I thought I'd make a backup using the currently loaded version first before updating (the unit is still in the same condition as when received).

    You must add this:

    rrgn,41,2:/41.bin

but your 41.bin will be empty, the same is for nuvi 3xx ( 360 )

Same for 3x0 as for other older Nuvi series 6x0, 7x0, 2x0. The backup .bin file will be empty. But if that's also with new Essential series, Garmin is channeling 'Back to the Future' again. lol!

Then what's the purpose? In other words: it's not possible to make a backup of rgn 41?

Thanks, loly. I now remember your reply here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
I used '2' instead of '1' and indeed I now have (what appears to be) a proper 41.bin file. The size however is 4,352 KB. How can it be empty?

Sory for my mistake about empty reg 41.
I read to quick and think that you have 660.

On nuvi 66, reg 41 is created like he must be and is not empty

You may find 1:/41.bin in content of internal RWFS drive to where you had given command to write it

Indeed he will. On those devices 0:/ is unit internal memory as with all other modern units. 1:/ is RWFS and microSD is 2:/. Garmin's latest little joke.

Smokefree, RWFS is visible to PC only in MTP mode setting [Mass Storage].

You are dead right! When I hook up my nüvi 66 to the PC, I get a pop up it found two new drives. It did not do that before creating the backup of rgn 41.
The W: drive is the nüvi itself. The X: drive is named GARMIN and only contains the 41.bin file.

How do I get rid of the X: drive? I already tried to clear NonVol, but that did not help.

I feel a bit embarrassed, but just after posting my question, I found the solution in the diagnostics menu:

View Map -> touch speed indication -> touch and hold speedometer for 7 to 10 seconds -> Configuration and Settings -> RWFS Settings -> Hide RWFS in Mass Storage -> Save
