lolypop000, I predict that ldr.bin won't be loaded from SD card, coz fw_all.bin doesn't start.
He bricked nuvi with wrong ldr.
I add in pack ldr.bin from nuvi 14xx in both folder 0827 and 0972, maybe he can repair nuvi in the same way that he bricked it.
maybe it will work, let's see...
No luck yet. Here's what I did:
1. Dragged and dropped the 277 KB 082701000620.rgn file onto Updater.exe.
2. Selected the "USB Device" radio button.
3. Brought the GPS unit into pre-boot mode.
4. The moment the GPS unit was recognized by Updater.exe, pressed "OK".
5. Updater tells me the current software version is newer than the update version. Chose "Yes" to replace the current version.
6. Updater updates.
7. Updater tells me the update was successful.
8. GPS unit still flashes the message "SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING".

What I did not mention yet but what may be of importance, is that the unit does not first look at software on the microSD. The moment I switch on the unit, immediately it briefly shows the message "SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING".
Unsuccessful. :( With the microSD in the unit, immediately when switching it on, it briefly shows "SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING" and shuts down.Quote:

I notice in the downloaded pack the presence of an (empty) update.log file in both the 0827 folder as well as the 0972 folder. Doesn't the presence of such file prevent the program from being executed?
Edit:
Tried the same trick without the presence of both update.log files. Same result. I don't think the unit is reading anything from microSD.
I'm sure that normally the unit will stay in pre-boot (well it's not a real pre-boot, coz boot.bin is being executed, not bootloader, but USB commands can be accepted, exactly as in the real pre-boot mode) mode just after flashing boot.bin.
Can you please confirm that using a healthy unit? It's not dangerous to flash an original boot.bin alone. Just rename RGN from 082701000620-org.rar to 097201000620.rgn.
Also what about 082701000620-org.rar and the broken unit?
Also can you please flash 082701000760-true.rar and tell me if it stays in pre-boot mode?
082701000760-true.rar contains the original 827's boot.bin.
I think it's not harmful to flash it again (you've already executed it as ldr.bin).

@smokefree
Please upload your 082701000620.rgn will try something else ;)
We will change boot.bin to execute pack from SD
1.) Extract pack from post #10 on SD and add SD in nuvi
2.) download this pack below and flash in pre boot
Spoiler:
3.) if work you will have 14xx boot.bin on your unit
loly, just to get the instructions in step 1 right: do I just add the microSD in the GPS but not switch it on until pre-boot in step 2?
Or do I flash the software from the microSD first and then proceed with step 2?
While waiting for a reply to my previous post, I will continue with kunix's suggestions:
I'm reluctant to flash anything into the healthy nüvi 1490T until I know how to salvage the bricked unit. I did create a backup of rgn 41 of the healthy unit though.Quote:

The screen of the unit then shows the text "LOADER" for about 10 more seconds and then repetitively briefly shows "SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING" until I disconnect the unit from the PC.
