help Garmin Nuvi 1490 LMT Stuck on Boot

I updated my post to comply with a help request. Please excuse my error in my previous post. Please help, anything is appreciated!

    1) Model: Nuvi 1490LMT Firmware: 5.3 HWID: 972 (Pulled these all from G7toWin)

    2) My girlfriend was using it when the mph hud froze on her. She shut it off and ever since has been stuck in a boot loop (Video below)

    3) It keeps booting over and over. Just shows Garmin logo. Won't connect to PC

    4) It only does for about 30 seconds in Pre-boot mode.

    5) Tried Garmin Cure and everything flashed. It still is stuck in boot mode. Not sure what else to try.

    6) Yes I have the drivers installed.

    8) I've tried Garmin Cure

    9) Yes I can reach pre-boot mode

    10) No I do not have backup

    Thanks

Normal that it won't connect in Mass Storage Mode when it's 'bricked'.

    4) It only does for about 30 seconds in Pre-boot mode.
Also normal. If you don't start flashing in will not stay in preboot.

    5) Tried Garmin Cure and everything flashed. It still is stuck in boot mode. Not sure what else to try.
The cure firmware cannot boot. It's purpose is to allow the unit to go into MSM so that faulty files can be deleted or a reformat done. Read fully Post #1 in the Cure3 thead [the link by lolypop000 above].

    ...........
    8) I've tried Garmin Cure
Not properly perhaps, read the thread again.

    9) Yes I can reach pre-boot mode
Then 99% chance that it can be cured.

See post #15 here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
It is a thread about a nüvi 1390 stuck on the Garmin splash screen.
You can also read the whole thread, but post #15 recaps the steps taken to fix it. It may be of help to you.

After using the Cure Firmware, it never goes into MSM. It hangs at the Garmin screen and shuts restarts itself after about 45 seconds

Also when flashing it makes sounds like it is disconnecting and reconnects when it is flashing. Could this be an issue.

Thanks for the link smokefree, I'll go check it out.

When you flashed the cure fw, did you keep firm constant pressure on the top LH corner of the screen at least until you saw 'Loader' appear on the unit's screen? If you don't hold firmly until that point, the unit will try again to go to MSM which it cannot do. Is there any error message from updater.exe after the unsuccessful flash attempt when you hear the Windows 'ding' sounds?

Try to access preboot after you have the cure fw loaded to updater.exe with the radio button selected for 'USB device'. Hold the upper LH screen corner and then plug in the usb lead to the nuvi [use a back usb port of your PC if possible]. Immediately you see the nuvi details appear in the window next to 'USB device', press OK on updater.exe and keep holding the screen.

I held the top left corner till it hit the loader and I even did throughout the whole process after that didn't work. It always says that the flash was successful. It first pops up the box that says updating. At this point my nuvi flashes white and makes the disconnect sound. Immediately after this it reconnects and pops up the updating box again. The nuvi then says loader and then software loading. Once this is done it states that the update was successful. I left it plugged in following the directions on the GarminCure topic but my computer never recognizes it and it restarts itself after about 45 seconds. I attached a picture below to show the update box that I am talking about.

There are other things to try. QuickCure3 for instance. You'll find info and the link at the base of Post #1 of GarminCure3 thread. Try that and if it doesn't work there are other methods. Worst case scenario is a failing or damaged flash chip but it needn't be written off yet. I may not be available for a while but there are others who can help better than myself anyway.
