    Angry New Oregon 6xx Firmware 3.70 checks installed maps.

    The new Firmware version v3.70 for Oregon 6xx series has a new check for installed maps.
    At the former version 3.60 I had no problems with the installed City Navigator Europe NT 2014.3.
    After installing the new firmware version the message "Can't Authenticate Maps. Contact content seller for help" appears.

    After pressing the OK button the setup continues. Into Map settings the City Navigator Europe NT 2014.3 map is not shown any more.

    Hi,

    Yes, with new 5.6 firmware, it looks as if Montana was now able to prevent unofficial unlocked map display.

    @Rossi
    You just have to downgrade to 5.4.

    Oh-Oh. Looks like Garmin has been working over-time on their anti-piracy scheme.

    Yes, you can downgrade, or never upgrade, your software, but the upgrade truly does "fix" some problems we want fixed on our units.

    I am hoping the extremely talented and intellegent people here can investigate and figure out exactly what Garmin has done to lock out hacked maps.

    If they have figured out a new way to authenticate maps on these handheld units, they will, for sure, apply the same technique to the automotive units as well.
