    I have another nüvi 250W with v7.60 fw. Will try the same on that unit (provided HWID is also 0827) and post back.

    I succeeded in converting the second nüvi 250WT (also HWID 0827) into a nüvi 465T using Neil's instructions in post #28 and #40 (thank you, mate!). Screen shots below:

    ....dead images links...

    Strange thing though, is that after updating the FW with WebUpdater from v4.20 to v7.60, the unit is back to being a "normal" nüvi 250WT again without any truck supporting features. Yet, before updating, WebUpdater does recognize the unit as a nüvi 465! Anything I have overlooked or should have done besides what is mentioned in post #28 and #40?

    You've overlooked nothing other than the fact that the HWID of the unit remains as 0827, therefore WU actually sees it as a nuvi 2x5W series because it reads the hwid regardless of which model number it displays. If you think about it, your 2009 [so called] '250W' has the same model no. as earlier [real] 250W's but has a different HWID. The fw required is based on the HWID [normally], so WU will supply the correct fw for it accordingly. If you did a full conversion to 465T with hwid 0943 then you'd get the 465T fw.

    If there are any further fw updates for 465T from Garmin [possible], just use RGN_Tool to combine the 0827 boot.bin with the new 0943 fw_all.bin and flash in preboot.

    I know by now this is an “old” thread but I have a 260 that I’m trying to update to trucking. Would I just follow the same basic methods of keeping factory boot and updated maps? Also as of writing the latest (last?) version firmware is 7.xx while the trucking version is 4.xx. Will I run into issues or should I stick to an older version? Thanks.

    Thesirlogan. This is only for converting 2x0W devices with HWID 0827 to either a 2x5W or a 465T truckie's nuvi [all 4.3" screen]. It cannot work for any 3.5" screen 2x0.

    Hi to all the experts... I've probably read through all threads by now, what I still couldn't find is the full conversion to 465 refred to as Pouchx method. All the links are dead, same with his website. I would appreciate any advice on how this works, I've understood that this might bear a higher risk of bricking the unit with no way back. Anyway, this device is old, but it's a suitable one, it's an EU version 255WT with S4_R P2 V2 2GB, PCB 105-01392-03, PCB ver2

    As your 265W has PCB P/N of 105-01392-03 it's certainly HWID 0827 not 1091 so you should be able to convert it to 465. It is possible to flash full 465 firmware to a 0827 device without problems however many ppl in the past have bricked their devices and that seems possibly related to what had been done in the way of earlier modification, been converted to SG/MY previously for example. PouchX's is a full conversion but it was done with earlier fw and from memory was a little more elegant than simply flashing the original fw. What is safer is to use the original 0827 boot.bin combined with 465's fw_all.bin and keeping the HWID as 0827. That will still get you all available 465 features, your 255W will run exactly like a 465 other than it won't have BlueTooth because it doesn't have a BT module like a 265W does. The 2x5W's boot.bin will load fine and there's no need to change the logo in region 16 either. Make sure you back up region 41 (nonvol) before you do anything whether that's hybrid or full fw conversion.

    @roocket
    Even though you've supplied some basic device info, unfortunately saying "File from post #28 does not work" is not enough to guide us to give proper advice.

    Your nuvi 255W must have HWID of 0827 to have any chance of converting to 465T (without BT). If it has HWID 1091 the conversion cannot work. If you've tried to flash an RGN named "082701000xxx" to a 1091 device, by design Updater.exe will refuse to do so for safety.

    Only if it is a HWID 0827 device: Please supply more, and detailed, information on the problems encountered. Give details of the board version also:
    • Hold battery symbol for ~6 seconds to enter a hidden menu - then post the device's details following 'Version Information' shown at the top of the first page.
    • On the next page (press lower right hand corner to page), note and advise the PCB P/N details shown immediately below 'Version Information' there.

    Include screenshots of any errors given by Updater.exe if available.
