    Thanks Cobber! One problem, i've just realised that i only have the AU 'Sensis' splash version which differs slightly from the US/EU standard vanilla Garmin one. Does anybody have a 250W logo from an EU or NA hwid 0737 to compare?

    As far as converting to 465T, firstly just check your PCB P/N. It will almost certainly be one of these, but we need to be sure: 105-01375-00, 105-01375-01, 105-01375-02, 105-01375-06, 105-01392-00, 105-01392-01 or 105-01392-03. On the 'Where To?/View Map' screen, hold the battery symbol for ~5-6 seconds, you get a page with 'SW Ver' in top LH corner, press next and check the PCB P/N which show directly beneath 'Version Information' at the top.

    Garmin 2xxW in 0737 hwid memory chips tsop48 and not BGA and memory organization is completely different. They can not be converted to 465. replacement of the entire PCB only - but then can not compatible display.

    Thanks Alviora, however we're acutely aware of that incompatibility which is not what i was suggesting for smokefree who has a 'limited issue' 250W HWID 0827 not 0737.

    Indeed! The PCB P/N is 105-01392-00

    Default Correct error re board version.

    I converted an AU 255W with an almost identical board [S2 P1 V6] to 465 some six months ago and it's been used daily by one of my sons ever since. There are other ways of converting to 465 which will change the HWID to 0943 but i prefer to use original 0827 boot.bin for easy recovery if there's a problem. Loly and/or Alviora et al may disagree and suggest a different method and if they do, please follow their more learned advice, however this is i believe totally safe and that 255W i converted for my son has been converted/reconverted several times without issues. As Alviora points out the current model name is not important and of no consequence, it's the HWID & PCB which matter. As i said previously, your 250W is now essentially a 255W. I've converted ~6 x 2x5W to 465 using various methods with both original and 465 boot bins [PouchX's is safe way to HWID 0943 i believe] without problems. After using any method it will identify as 465 on boot.

    Main changes:
    You will get Routes, but will lose EcoRoute. You will get an additional profile for Truck [customizable]. You will get Lane Assist [not with JCV though].

    First do a backup of both your files and region 41, and do a hard reset. Then extract the attached pack, connect in preboot and flash the rgn file.
    Spoiler: Flasher

    Do another backup of rgn41 after the flash and keep it separate from your original backup.

    Neil please give my your account number. You will billed for violation of license agreement at least
    ~6
    times. Alviora is theorist but you really the Garmin Ripper If you gave your advise a pair years ago you could obtained all snow from my garage because lucky people in Europe is more heavier than AU population and the world could turn over. I appreciate the courageous man like you...

    HAHAHAHA. Not really so courageous my vodka-loving friend. More so that i'm blissfully unaware of the dangers perhaps ... "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing ..."

    If Garmin wants my account details for violation of licence i shall give them yours.

    Feel free to suggest other methods you guys with 'Navigation Software Expert' behind your nick. [Best not ask me for my definition of 'Expert' ]. I have only an honorary title bestowed simply for foolhardy bravery and quantity of posts rather than quality i'm afraid ......

    @smokefree
    Don't be put off by all this banter, it's as safe as houses if you use the original boot bin i reckon ..... If you're unsure of anything, just ask. If you don't get any other answers, i'll just make one up and Giomen will correct me instantly for sure.
