    @amos1
Your 41_backup.bin is empty of any usable data unfortunately. I've asked Loly to check my finding and he's confirmed it.

Please try one final time to get another backup using the first pack attached in Post #51. If it still doesn't give you a viable file [needs to be 4096KB], then please use the third pack from post 51 to erase 41.

There is absolutely no harm in erasing your corrupt region 41 even though you don't have a viable backup of 41. It can only help 'cos it should then allow the unit to operate normally. What should happen [provided there is no other damage to the unit's flash] is that it will boot but as a 14xx. You may have to go thru the screen calibration at first, and you may need to select 'Locale' on each boot, but it'll be usable. You unit will also lose it's registration and unlock codes, which you can see following the unit ID in your backed up GarminDevice.xml from the 'min' folder of the large messy GPX folder you obtained. Compare that to the one on your unit following erasing of 41 where you'll see no codes now.

It's method of last resort imo to erase rgn41, but until someone finds a way to repopulate the info into 41 it's better than having a brick. If you want to get a 'clean' and complete backup of the file system just use the command from post #68 above before you erase 41.

Post again if you're unsure or let us know the outcome.

Thank you for the handy tip. 'What a difference a slash makes'. But why did you think it would only work for you? Maybe you have been doing as much of this as this or too much of this

Yes we did. And i [unkindly] addressed you as 'Capt Obvious' in reply. But in my defense Dasil and I were trying to get wildcard file copy to work and had little immediate interest in copydir.

Not alone in that, in both instances, no. In the first however, i can trash/delete OTs all by myself now whereas you are at the mercy of Caty [and me too, haha!]. In the second, I think you have psychic if not witchcraft powers, because only last week a friend gave me his 1350 to look at, said it was dead. It worked for me, but only when i put it on charge. The silly clot hadn't used it for months and didn't realise the battery would run down. He still thought i was great though when I updated the fw, enabled JCV on it and added new maps. Genius is relative depending on the standing of the assessor and the assessed [i actually think you're pretty smart, but don't tell anyone]. Same with Loly, He knows that i think he's a freakin' genius too. But kunix thinks i'm only just 'blowing smoke up his kilt' and issuing nice compliments for fun and flattery [he actually thinks he's not only lazy but a bit dumb, btw ...lol!]

Don't stress Caty, I'll delete or trash these last few posts and edit the OT PS out too. Just wanna give G-man time to choke on his Vodka reading this first.

Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Happy Woteva my cranky Russian Bear sparring partner. Have an extra shot of that stuff with the Squirrel's backside on the label for me and i'll raise a glass of reasonably-drinkable red or a frosty stubby of XXXX beer in your honour!

You know what a B-Double is? I thought you called them B-Trains over there. Why the f@#$ would we have snow here Sport? It's the middle of summer! Why don't you get an tugboat and tow an iceberg in from the Arctic Ocean. You and your mates can chip it into snow with icepicks. [Bloody lazy Northerners! mumble grumble ... gotta tell 'em how to do everything ...]

OK, all the above off to trash [but copies to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] first. Sometimes even Giomen is 'Too Good to Trash'].

EDIT: 'Coz it's a Lady's prerogative to change a Gentleman's mind [or something like that], I've left them here too.

OK Dorothy, you know I can't resist when you ask nice. BTW, the Ruby Slippers came of the dead shriveled feet of the Wicked Witch of the West didn't they? Maybe a factory cable would be more use anyway.

I'd already copied 'em to Aussie Gems, but i'll leave them there in case you change your mind and get the whip out here .....

You reckon kunix will catch the Xmas Spirit Caty and give us that thread? I think he's probably more likely in the 'Bah Humbug!' camp with the likes of me and Giomen to be honest.

Damn! This is killing me. Do you mean a real, fair-dinkum, genuine, dinky-di Garmin factory cable? Or you're going to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] a service cable yourself, or is Loly giving you one he made for Christmas?
I hope it's the last, then he might send me one too.

I made a Factory Cable for Nuvi 1300 but nobody can give me the secrets of how to use it, for now it's just a glorified "Battery Charger".
I heard you can do wonderful things with it !
