Default Garmin nuvi 200w - help with firmware

Hi, I have the above GPS and it seems to be running really slowly, you have turned the corner before it actually tells you to!! Is there any way that the firmware can be updated on these systems? Mine is a really old machine. I have tried to update the maps on it but it isn't solving the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
