@fischio44
Do you have only CN on your nuvi or you have some other map installed?
If you have 2 maps look if you have both enabled at the same time, if you have then enable only CN and restart nuvi.

It looks so obvious , but I ask anyway fischio44: do you have the basemap installed in your nuvi?
tks guys.
In my 1240 I've only 1 map (Europe 2013.41) with Italy only (approx 400Mb) + JCV (as I've installed the modified firmware to have this feature working) + world basemap.
The issue is that this problem arrived all in a sudden after a map update (from 40 to 41) but also reverting back to previous reality is not solving the issue.
I'll try the suggestions in this topic tonight and let u know.
Tks!
Ciao catymag, I've replied to your question in the post above: yes, I have the world basemap. Any further hint? tks!
Sometimes using a non-DEM basemap will overcome minor map drawing lag, but usually when to do with scrolling. Worth a try if other fixes don't work though. You can strip out dem from your standard basemap using GmapTool. This will reduce the size of v5.01 from 49080 to 19374KB.

How have you loaded maps in nuvi? Mapinstall or Mapsource? Read thisQuote:

New CNEU maps can give problems in some Italy zones if loaded with MS: there is a famous example in Mondragone Lazio Italy or in a zone close to Boston in CNA.Code:https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?34663-MapInstall&p=166425#post166425
If you load these new maps in old devices (350 for example) nuvi crashes in these zones and you can even brick your old device if IMGs are not in sd you can remove.Code:https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?34842-MapSource-vs-BaseCamp/page3
Actually CNs are designed for Basecamp and Mapinstall and better not to use MS.
Ciao guys,
short update after having tried all suggestion above (except remove DEM data from my basemap). The only sensible difference thanks to the format of the internal memory is that now my Garmin takes approx 10 secs to get connected to the pc while in the past I had to wait more than 30 or so.
Apart the above, the drawing problem is still there and nothing helped (clearing NV, format internal memory, auto rebuild of the file structure, defrag, download of maps using mapinstall,...).
I've now just removed the basemap in full and I'm gonna give the last try tomorrow morning. Will let u know by return. In case you have any other idea... :-)
Tks a lot.
Did you try any other map (not CN2013.41)?
Is the same thing happening with any other maps?
Ciao x-trail, yes issue is with any other map.
I've done some investigation this morning on my trip to the train station. Before leaving home I've removed everything "not standard" from the GPS.
In particular, I took out:
- JCV file
- Marco Polo guide
- all GPI files
- basemap
and the issue disappeared. So it's something related to one of the 4 points above.
I'll continue my investigation on Friday when back home then will let u know.
Keep you posted and tks for the help.
One of this causes your problem:
- all GPI files
- basemap
Download new basemap and you will see if problem disappear
