If you connect it via USB can you see the files inside ?
Do you have a backup of your Nuvi before this happened ?

The recently loaded map image is probably corrupt or damaged in some way. The unit cannot load the map so it's stuck in a boot loop. Use cure3 then you will be able to see the files in Windows to delete the map: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

It's not always necessary to format. I find that many users jump right in and format the unit causing other problems.
If the user knows what happened just before the "bricking" it's possible to do "selective deleting" until the faulty file is found.

Happens all the time. Many don't read this in kunix's thread:

The typical curing algorithm (in general) looks like this:

    1. Flash your device with the CURE firmware (see below for more details). Please note that the CURE firmware will never boot, it can only enter the mass storage mode.
    2. Don’t disconnect your device from the PC. It should enter the mass storage mode and the PC should detect it as a new flash drive.

    • If the filesystem on the flash drive is OK then you should try removing/renaming some files that could cause problems. Start from those files that were created/copied last. Don’t forget about making backups.
    • If removing files doesn’t help, or you’ve accidentally formatted the flash drive into NTFS, or its filesystem is corrupted then you should reformat the flash drive into FAT or FAT32. Remember that when your device is cured you can restore most of the missing files by running WebUpdater.

    Hi
Yes I did the repair and then the original, when I could see the files I just deleted everything and copied my original back on and it works fine now. The pre boot threw me a bit, it was just a blank screen, took me a couple of goes to realize I had about 30 seconds to plug into usb port.
I have tried the new .41 version of the maps and found the voice command will not search for towns or locations, it will only work on favourites?,does any one know why.
    Thanks Again
    Mark

Maybe because you don't have all the necessary asr files in your unit. Which map is it, EU NT or NTU? BTW, dasilvarsa and i weren't referring to you, we were commenting because it was refreshing that someone had actually not formatted unnecessarily and followed the suggestion to delete the offending file(s) before formatting.

With the preboot access for your 2460, try this next time: Hold the upper LH corner as you look at it, THEN plug the usb into the unit. If you've got updater.exe open on your desktop with the usb option already selected, immediately you see the unit details appear in the window adjacent 'USB Device' click OK.

Looks Like the .SRX and .ASR files are missing.

These are specific to the Map Version and Model of GPS
Also I believe that you have to install the Full Map for Voice Command to Work

    There are files for NTU
