converted Nuvi2300Lm to DelZ560, no sound at all as well with power button can use only for force power off and to turn on.
Navigation/Satellite reception is fine.

Maybe i'm not doing this right? Results differ even in some fw of related series [e.g. nuvi 300-350 & 310-360-370]. For hwid 0476 v6.2 searching in normal text for '105-' displays the various PCB PN's shown in clear text as 105-00968-00 105-00968-0S, and curiously (to me anyway) this odd 'wildcard' number 105-XXXXX-XX ? Similarly for 300 MLC hwid 0855, a clear '105-' search reveals 105-00968-M0. Searching as latin unicode reveals nothing in either. Hex search for 31 30 35 2D gets results again. But 310_360_370 HWID 0566 FW V5.2 yields nothing regardless of search type, even with alternating 'joker' characters . For others, e.g. 13/14xx hwid 0972, a '2E joker' search in Hex [31 2E 30 2E 35 2E 2D] gets results as does a unicode search. Am i doing something wrong or are there just differences in way you have to search in various firmwares? If so, is there another search method for fw like the 310 hwid 0566 one? I'm using xvi32 hex editor.Quote:

Don't bash me up guys and gal, i've never claimed to be anything other than a total noob when it comes to this stuff [trying to learn though] ...;)
I'll add those 3xx series PCB PN's shown above to post #1.
Do you mean this: 31 00 30 00 35
Older nuvi, like 3xx, 6xx, didn't use Unicode, that's why no Unicode texts inside firmware.
Yes, 00 is 0, then that's 10005 right? What i had, would normally be 1.0.5.- (31 2E 30 2E 35 2E 2D) but i'd made 2E the joker so it can any return any symbol [because i wasn't sure what i was looking for in-between the text characters]. In any case, search result is the same with 31 00 30 00 35 or 31 joker 30 joker 35.
What i really want to know is how do you find the PCB PN in fw's such as 660 or 2x5 MTK where none of those searches work? I figured that the lack of unicode was the problem, but plain text search works with 300-350.
30 = 0
31 = 1
32 = 2
...........
00 = .
Loly, that's the non-MTK fw. Try it with the 2x5 MTK [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] or the 600 series [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...].
PS: Typo? .... you meant 35 = 5, not 32 = 2 of course.
I guess with all the software experts here and a lack of further response it maybe means that in some older unit firmwares stated above [and particularly for MTK chips] the PCB PN is not written into the fw 'coz i doubt it's written in a way that isn't searchable? Any opinions?
In old nuvi you find PCB PN if you search by 31 30 35 in new if you search by 31 00 30 00 35
Nuvi MTK 2x5W HID 1091 and 2x5 HID 1074: 105-01632-00, 105-01576-00
