For your On screen message "software missing" to "software loading" read this:

1.) What FW for flash do you use when you flash first time?
2.) Do you open updater.exe or you drag/drop FW on updater.exe when you first time flash your nuvi after battery problem?
3.) Do you have backup of your nuvi somewhere on PC?
1.Not sure,i think it was 5.00
2.Opened it
3.I have backup of another nuvi 200,not the one i'm trying to fix though
Thanks!
May be ver.5.00 is cause of error. Version above 5.10 put another loader (as said Pouch a many time ago) and it is not compatible with version below 5.10.Quote:

CURE firmware will never boot, it is made to enter the mass storage mode., it is made to format nuvi and reload backup and flash then original Garmin firmware.
I do not remember the details. I remember a many of died Nuvi 2x5 only. There are not compatible loader (x-loader) or PCB numbers and versions...
May be Kunix give the answer why Nuvi 2x5 with some PCB numbers and versions (like S4) was died after downgrading SW...
If you opened it and updater.exe start flash with no error about ( no update available) then you have HWID851.
Can you add link of this first FW that you flash with?
I ask you about backup becouse if you have it then you will could look in garmindevice.xml for HWID number.
No, I can't explain that, as I've never investigated this issue. Also the answer isn't going to be of any use for us.Quote:
