I have a problem with my nuvi 3790T..
During Navigation I randomly get a black screen as it re-boots & proceeds to carry on navigating as normal, it does this 3-5 times a day & is so frustrating.
I've put up with it like this for over a year & the units out of warranty. Has anyone here ever experienced that?
I can't figure out wether it's software causing the prob or a dry joint on the pcb.
Yes I've done a hard reset recently which deleted my past dialed addresses etc, as thought it may of been filling up the internal memory but that did not solve the problem...
I'm on latest FW build from Garmin & I'm still getting the same issue as before.
The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
I can add these questions:
Since which firmware version did you get this problem?
Installed maps: preloaded ,added ,in internal memory,in sd.
Have you master resetted from usual menu or did you clear non vol ?
Have you never tried to downgrade to a previous firmware and then reinstall the latest one?
Had the same issue on my 3790 when i installed City Navigator Europe NTU 2013.30, but problem was only present when using portrait mode.
Screen would go black for a couple of seconds when the map was refreshing, Very occasionally, it would crash out completely, but never when i had the 3790 in landscape mode.
Haven't had an issue since i installed City Navigator Europe NTU 2013.40
Been a problem since I've been on City Navigator® Europe NT 2012 2012.20
This is taken from an old saved system stat from when the problem first occured!
Software Version 4.30
Audio Version 2.20
Text Version 2.20
GPS Firmware 2.60
Bluetooth Firmware 3.0.35 P55
PMIC Version: 822
TSC Version: 1.16
I have since updated to latest firmware from Garmin but still on City Navigator® Europe NT 2012 2012.30 map as had only one free update & wanted to get it fixed first, only to find the units out of warranty.
I Have from recall on a 16gb external SD the following...
City Navigator Australia And New Zealand NT 2012.30
Great Britain Discoverer v2
*random reboot issue occurs with or without the sd plugged in*
hard resets done the normal way clearing all user data.. however ages ago when the problem remained I deleted everything from device inc hidden files which have since been restored from an old backup.
I have never downgraded to older F/W build.
I'le have the device to hand monday so will be able to give a precise report on the current system stats.

Cleared Nonvol using following method rather than pulling battery...
1. Viewing map Press Speed dial
2. Instuments view -> Long Press on Speedo dial
3. Navigate to -> Developer Info -> Nonvol Statistics -> Press top left icon (Clear Nonvol)
Note* After every firmware update it is always better to reset nuvi!
