Thanks Catymag.
I also own an Oregon 550 - the current firmware on this unit says version 6.40 (where the Oregon 6x0 says version 3.70 or below).
So I guess that even though the Oregon units 600 and Oregon units 550 shares the same name "Oregon", looks and feel identical in the software, it is for real two different firmwares! Correct?
Will the Oregon 550 firmware update also be affected in the same way as Oregon 6x0 and Montana units have been? As far as I can see, the version 6.40 is the lastest version (from august 2013), but I am not sure if there is a newer version than 6.40 for my Oregon 550, but I am afraid that will be affected also, if updating to a higher firmware version.
Can anyone confirm, that the older Oregon 5xx and 4xx are not affected!?
I think, nobody knows this kind of informations.Quote:

thomasino007 is correct. Nobody know for sure what Garmin is planning, but we know for certain that they haven't released any updates for your Oregon 550 since v6.40 on 20th August last year:
If they do, just don't update until some brave soul tests and reports. This thread is for 6x0 firmware related comments/queries only.Code:http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4523
Any yes, 6x0 and 450/550 run different firmwares.

Aster flashing 3.80 all looks normal, no issues till now. IMO start is faster, compass not freezing, maps shows ok, profiles working. :)
Since the related Montana-issue, was compiled in this topic by the mods, just want to let y'all know that the Montana v5.70, which was also rereleased yesterday, doesn't have the map-issue anymore. So, it's safe to update the Monatana!
You can post it in Montana updates thread ;)Quote:
