    Hello,

    Exactly, I agree with you.

    Guys, look my sattelite page:

    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    All the time my signal looks worse just running slowly. This was my better accuracy today.
    The image above I was stopped with sky clear and no clouds.

    PS: I was using your GPS files @lolypop000. So looks me worse than the other GPS files that @catymag share with us.
    PS2: I will flash again the original 37XX firmware just to compare the satellite page.

    Look at post #160 and you will see why is worse satellite accuracy with files from original 3790.
    Use for now files, that give you better accuracy and we will investigate forward.
    I hope that one day we find solution for all nuvi with low accuracy.

    Kudos to rfb, giuseppe66, Angelo and all others prepared to take the time testing their units.
    Loly,
    Do you want me to convert my newer virgin 3790 to see how it performs? I would have done that already but thought maybe there is a need to have an original 'never-coverted' 37 as a reference. My convert is an earlier produced unit, whereas my 3790 is of later production. There is over 14,000 difference in the S/No of these units, so assuming that the S/Nos are not allocated in 'blocks' to different factories, one is amoung the first 2000 production units and the other amoung the later 15-16,000. There seems to be some loose anecdotal link between acceptable accuracy in earlier units, and unacceptable in later ones, maybe? If you want me to switch them around, let me know and i'll do it and test further. But really, i think the evidence is mounting that only a fw fix will help those with unacceptable accuracy.

    @rfb;giuseppe66
    I agree that quality of signal is more important than quantity of sats locked on. This is logical when you put it in terms of basic map reading. Better to have 3 very accurate back-bearings to prominent features than 6 highly inaccurate ones. The 'triangle of error' will always be more accurate and less confusing with the fewer accurate readings, whether it is obtained by compass or GPS device. My convert 34 never manages the same number of sat locks or quality of signal as my 37, but it's still way better in lock, quality and accuracy than you 2 guys have.

    Are you and anyone else able to confirm that your units are of earlier or later production? Then we can compare accuracy with age of unit.
    My converted early unit's sticker has:
    nuvi 3790 1W800xxxx (in single line, without 'S/N:' in front of 9 digit/letter serial)
    and my later original one has in 2 lines:
    nuvi 3790
    S/N: 1W80xxxxx

    We have in

    37xx = 10081601GRMN01

    34xx = 11072801GRMN01

    @Caty,Neil
    What version FW do you use when you convert 37xx to 34xx?

    p.s.

    For current conversion, initially 7.50, presently 7.60. Previous conversions were with with earlier fw versions of course, but i don't have backups anymore. Accuracy was always the same (acceptable) as far as i could tell with all fw versions though.

    PS: Oh, sorry. You mean what 37xx fw? Not sure, either 4.90 or 5.00 for last conversion, probably 4.90.
    EDIT: Definitely 4.90 for latest conversion, just found the NV backup.

    But for our latest conversions, both Caty and I used 4.90.
