Default Garmin nuvi 1310 frozen on start up logo

    Hello everyone!

I recently offered to fix a relative's satnav, only to discover it's a lot trickier than I'd previously imagined!

The original problem was that it was stuck on Loading Maps. I tried the hard reset (holding down the bottom right corner), but when I was offered erase data screen, the touch screen would not allow me to select any option. Also, my computer would not recognise the satnav.

After a lot of Googling, I discovered GarminCure3 and followed the instructions given.
(I can't remember the exact order, but it involved holding the top left corner (which sent me to a calibration dot pressing screen), and eventually I managed to preboot and implement the GarminCure (with nuvi13xxand14xxseries_GCDFile__580.gcd)).

Thankfully, my computer now recognises the satnav when it is plugged in via USB and I can view it via Explorer and WebUpdater. The WebUpdater suggests I update to version 6.20 - whenever I do, it doesn't acknowledge the update once I have disconnected/reconnected the satnav and still suggests I update it.

I've also tried holding down the power button for varying amounts of time, along with battery removal. But to no avail!

I now have a satnav which turns on but just shows a black screen with GARMIN (and a blue triangle, which I assume is part of the logo), and it no longer responds to prebooting (pressing top left corner) or resetting (pressing the bottom right corner).

I have probably exhausted all online literature and am stuck for ideas! Does anyone have any ideas they'd like to share with me? I would greatly appreciate any help!

    Thanks in advance :-)

Cure Firmware is just to get Access to the internal disk, so that you can delete the files that caused the original problem.
You must also delete /.system/gupdate.gcd if present.
After fixing the problems by formatting or deleting files you need to repeat the process by flashing original firmware.
This is also done using GarminCure3 in Original Mode.

    You beautiful genius!! It's working!!

I pressed the top left corner for reboot mode and ran GarminCure3 with the original mode. After unplugging and a couple of resets, it worked! It works!!!

Honestly, thank you so much! :-D
