help garmin 250W Nuvi heavily bricked..(or dead)

    Hello guys,

I have got this Nuvi in my hands but I do not know its history. I have seen that charger cable was damaged and I fixed that. Unfortunately, Nuvi does not respond on plugging charger neither on classic USB cable. Does not SD card in its slot.

Will the Nuvi start if the battery is completely dead or disconnected from Nuvi?

I have no appropriate screwdrivers at home to open the Nuvi but I will open it asap...

First of all try to changer battery using Nuvi charger for some time. If battery is deeply discharged you must wait patiently. Sometimes this helps.

OK...for now, Nuvi is opened. Battery is dead (0.5VDC) and unfortunately, display has partially damaged the smallest flat cable (2/4pin) as well as the appropriate flat connector on the PCB. I am not quite sure but I think that the flat cable carries some power, probably for display background light... So, my next question is:

Will Nuvi give any sound on its speaker while connecting charging cable if display and battery are disconnected? (I wil try to fix display during weekend)?

I don't think so. Does computer recognize your nuvi through USB connection?

Nope... Nor Nuvi gives any sign of life.
(Btw, by carefully analysing whole display I realized that partialy damaged kapton PCB was directly connected to backplane light..., so it couldnt be the reason for destroying whole Nuvi...)

    I think someone duped you.
Sometimes crooked people put equipment together from all faulty parts and sell it cheap online.
Un-bricking can only be done if hardware is good but firmware is bad. (not all cases , If you cannot get pre-boot it's as good as dead.)

    It is not mine Nuvi...
I didnt fix the display ribbon cable till now. I connected new battery and made a connection via USB cable to the PC but Nuvi doesnt make any sound (display is detached) neither PC gives any sign of USB device presence. It seems that the Nuvi is fully dead. Reseting button does not make help. Too bad...
Waiting for repairing display cable (i am waiting the kapton tape from DX..)...
