I'm assuming the 3790US is one of the "new devices" that needs the "2" value in the script, right? In that case, what does this exactly mean: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] ? Does that mean I need to backup twice with the script value set to "1" and the other at "2"?

What does this text: But this would be located on RWFS drive but not SD. I think you can find it there (in RWFS). exactly mean also?

    No, read with care:
For newer devices like 3597, 2797 etc (2013 & later)
    3790 is older(2010)

Great, thanks! Sorry, I lost track when the 3790US was bought. I thought it was a 2013 model for some reason.

Montana firmware has 'rrgn/xrgn/ergn' in it so it should work. Takes only a minute or so to make a pack for microSD and try it. It won't cause any harm provided that you ensure use of the correct ldr.bin for Montana [HWID1275].

I managed to backup my nuvi and got these files: last_id.bin, Ldr.bin, update.log and update.txt

    with the update.txt content:
    rrgn,41,1:/41.bin
    reboot

    and update.log:
    nüvi 2xx5 Software Version 8.20, UID: 38655XXXXX, HWID: 38655XXXXX
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Parsing "rrgn,41,1:/41.bin"
    Success
    Parsing "reboot"

My model of nuvi is the European 2445LM.

After trying to enable some featuers in my nuvi, I found out that my bluetooth was not able to be activated and further more, my gtm 25 is no longer being able to detected. I decided to restore my nuvi to its previous state by changing the update.txt to:

    xrgn,41,1:/41.bin
    reboot

and place it along with the 41.bin file created in the backup stage.
    the location is Garmin\Updater\1371\

However, after inserting the microSD into my nuvi 2445LM, it didn't boot into the software loading mode but loaded as usual and may I know what I have done wrong?

    Try 154 instead of 41.
All looks ok, but check again files paths and if there are no typos in command (may be spaces) and in files names.
Do you have reg 139/140 backup? I don't remember if you have to restore them too, but read [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    1) Do you remove last_id.bin?
    2) 1:/41.bin mean what 41.bin must be in root on SD...

    Talking

an perfect example of common mistake related to Copy&Paste:

    nьvi 2xx7 Software Version 5.10, UID: 387xxxxxxxxx, HWID: 3xxxxxxxx
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Parsing "rrgn,154,2:/154.bin"
    Success
    Parsing "reboot "
    Error: invalid command 'reboot '
    Error

extra space at the end of 'reboot' command caused error.
    Solved

Whole backup process takes few seconds on my Nuvi 2xx7. However unit did not went in to reboot, simply loaded in to main screen. This unit has latest 5.1 firmware
    Succesfull log:
    nьvi 2xx7 Software Version 5.10, UID: 38xxxxxx, HWID: 3xxxxxxx
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Parsing "rrgn,154,2:/154.bin"
    Success
    Parsing "reboot"
