    Mine is now working.

Just an fyi. I found out that sometimes your Nuvi might be in sleep mode so it won't reboot. That's what I think happened to me.
Much appreciate to the help I received!

Does anyone know why my 3597 doesn't show "Advanced Avoidances" in the "Settings" Menu? The usual options like .5 km .2 km and .5 km does appear only after I select the "Detour" button. But looking at the manual I am suppose to see it within my "Settings". Perhaps the tool did some modifying?

It is SW guilt more likely! Maybe bug or maybe innovation
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

    Hello all.

    I have a Nuvi 3490lmt, HWID 1376 from Europe,
and would like to enable MP3 & Video player.

Is it possible with my device ?
Are there any disadvantages by doing this, lag etc. ?
What would be the most safe and easy way to do it ?

Sorry if these questions, have allready been asked.
Have not been able to find anything, about the 3490.

    Thanks.

    - download attached pack and extract it on empty SD
    - Turn nuvi completly OFF ( not in stend by mode )
    - Add SD in nuvi
    - Turn nuvi ON and whait
    - When procedure is over your nuvi will turn off and back ON
    - Now you have enableed mp3 and video
    - delete folder Garmin from SD

Read starting post, all it's explained there with pictures by cat2115 from a 3450, procedure is good for 3490 too.
No diadvantages, but make NV backup before modding your device.

    Wow...

Thanks alot for very fast reply, from Lolypop000 & Catymag.

I used the solution from Loly, seems to be working just fine
Sorry Catymag, I was too lazy to do the NV backup, maybe next time.

Is it necessary to do this every time there is a new FW from Garmin ?
Or will the features be enabled forever ?

I have been serching for some specifications, about the video player,
as I have not yet been able to play any of my avi or mp4 on the device.

So any help about video file format, codec and resolution,
    would be very much appreciated.

    Best Regards.

I don't recommend to play with any mod without doing NV backup.
Experience recommends NV backup also if you use Express or if you use Webupdater to update firmware.
    Features are enabled forever.

    Hello Neil.

Thanks for your reply, have been struggeling for 2 days now,
converting video with "Super" video converter, wich I have
been using the last few years, and usualy does the job very well.
But for this job, its just not good enough.
I can recomend "Any Video Converter" It does the job.
I had a few problems with Video Bit Rate was too high,
now I tried with Bit Rate at 512, and its playing much better than 1024

Thanks Again Neil and Best Ragards.
