Thank you for your reply lolypop.
what i did is went to my.garmin.com account,
and updated the "new" 3490LMT with the required updates.
I was surprised to see that mydashboard sees it as 3790LMT but
pointed me to update it with the 3490LMT files.
everything is now working perfectly.
Thank you everyone for your help!
Cheers!
Here's some screenshots of the menus of my new 3490LMT.
Pls notice that the model says 3790 but the software version is 7.20 which I believe is the latest 3490 version. ;))

after playing with the 37xx=>34xx the whole day, I kinda got bored..
there are some things that I was thinking that maybe someone has already done...
these are:
- physically soldering a headphone input jack thru the speaker terminals (might include drilling the side chrome panel to fit the jack)
- on my old 855, there were games included like Solitaire, Sudoku, Space Thrower, Temo, Rock Slide, Interceptor, Boxing. etc..
can these games also be flashed to the 34xx?
Ok, maybe Im just being silly...but then, why not? :)))
Look at that topic. You might consider just using the microUSB connector ;):Quote:

No, not possible. 800 series are linux based that is why they had games.Quote:
