If I'm not mistaken, the bluetooth firmware is different/apart from the main firmware.
I remember when updating the 660 firmware, I used to go to the extras on which I could update the bluetooth firmware and download other things. That was before Garmin Express, it was Garmin Updater (I think).

Have you ever tried checking to update your bluetooth firmware or reinstalling it using Garmin software?

I've just googled a little and found out that it's not only your issue.
The bluetooth problem usually manifests itself as such that bluetooth becomes disabled on the nuvi, and enabling it causes the GPS to lock up or freeze. Holding down the power button will reset it, but bluetooth is still disabled and re-enabling just causes it to freeze again.

You need to download and install the bluetooth fix.

thanks for helping , that solution , i 've already tryed in the past unsuccessfully , the only way to restore bluetooth was to downgrade principal firmware ( not bluetooth firmware) to older version ( don't remember if it was to 4.6 , 4.7 or 4.8) ; so i am ok to try again now but (because of erasing all data on my device by mistake) i don't have the folder "remote sw" in my device , where sould be located the file to replace ( but in the root on the garmin device i see a file with the extension .GCD witch does not have the same name as the one that i must place on the device...) must i try ??

thanks for giving your opinion ( on my device there is not the folder "remote sw" , but in the garmin folder i see the file "GUPDATE.GCD" mus t i replace this one ??)

thanks ; sorry i have forgotten to precise if possible to get them and also the 490 but in .exe format (like the one posted in first post) , because i don't know how to the ones in gcd format , if possible

    many thanks , for helping

edit : i have found them in the format i wanted ,stored on my nas ( if some one need them , let me know)
    thanks

i tryed to update with webupdater only the principal firmware and not the bluetooth one : same problem ; tryed only update of bluetooth =same problem ; tryed update both = same problem ( when activating bluetooth , device freezes , only way to use it is to put off and put on ( but bluetooth stil desactivated and if i try to activate it freezes again) tryed also the fix method that consists to replace the .gcd file in remotesw folder ( finally this folder apeared on my device...) and setting maintenance mode to update bluetooth ...but no succes

so now it works but the onltyy way to have bluetooth working is that i downgraded firmware to 4.70 , now it's good

I recall having a similar problem with a bricked NA 680, once the unit was cured BT was disable and would crash the unit if re-enabled. The solution was to upgraded both unit software [firmware] and BT software together which is maybe why you are finding that BT only works ok with the earlier firmware. For instance, you should have BT SW V3.40 when using main fw V4.90. Go to Tools>System>About and look at the versions. The BT module is in the flip-up satellite receiver and it may also be an inter-relationship there as well. Latest GPS sw version is 3.00.

Regarding the main firmware file which has been previously delivered by garmin in *.exe form. This is simply a self-extractor which you can extract yourself with 7zip for instance. If you have trouble, change the extension to .zip and even Windows Explorer will open it for viewing it in later versions of Windows. In the folder nuvi6xx is a Garmin folder which has GUPDATE.GCD in it. Copy that to the Garmin folder of your 660 overwriting any existing file and boot it. It is simply what the exe does, correctly places that gcd file in the unit.
