Weird,
although I have erased region 5 successful and unsuccessful wrote back the region 5
I have tried rrgn again the Region 5,
still can get the region 5 bin files,
once compare this Region 5 bin with initial back up, both are same.
Does updater.exe detect your device now? Don't try to flash anything, because it will cause rebooting to the bootloader which may be damaged now.
However, there is a big chance that the bootloader is still in the RAM, so we could run boot.bin in the ldr.bin mode and flash 5.bin back.

So you've just rebooted your device?
Hi kunix,
This is my last Nuvi 255w with White screen to test, I am afraid if I reboot it, it will no longer Power ON again like the previous one.
I have attempt to do the Region 5 and 43, because I read your other post and told that 'maybe the screen is white because the LCD is unknown to the bootloader?",
that's why I tried to get the region 5 and 43 from working Nuvi 255W same HWID, attempt to overwrite the Region 5 and 43, and hopefully it can solve the white screen problem,
would like to add that both Nuvi 255w can be access Mass storage mode and preboot mode and also boot as normal, just only the screen is total white, unable to see anything, since this 2 Nuvi with me already got some time, and I think no hope to recover, I am trying whatever method, no matter what and prepare to make it dead.
Oh well,
the command come with "Reboot",
Since the screen is white, I can't see whether it reboot, I just can hear the "Du Du' sound, suppose its Reboot.
the first Nuvi, I have power off it by slide the power button to left, after that, it no longer power on.
now I have tested the 2nd Nuvi and not to Power Off it.
Okay, looks like understand now.... It's enough to avoid powering it off completely, because then RAM contents with the only alive copy of bootloader are lost.
Btw did you try the same update.txt commands on both nuvis? Or did you delete "reboot" command for the second try?
Thanks Kunix,
the first dead Nuvi what I told that I have use wrongly command rrgn intead of xrgn, so that, I have edited the update.txt rrgn to xrgn,
but it's doesn't matter since xrgn region 5 & 43 will not successful.
I have tested below command just now,
ergn,5
xrgn,5,1:/5.bin [I have rename it from region_5.bin to 5.bin]
rrgn,5,1:/New_5.bin
ergn success
xrgn error
rrgn success
open the New_5.bin, All bytes fill with "FF"
Now I test without "Reboot" command
If without "reboot' command,
after a while about 4 min, touch screen still No any responsive at all and no any "Du Du" also,
screen still stay at White,
remove the SD card and check the log file
found after the ergn and xrgn command,
after that it has unlimited line as below

So you've just run update.txt one more time? How did you do that?
I mean did you just reinserted the SD card?

Yes, I just reinserted the SD card into Nuvi and
I have put on the Garmin Charger on the Nuvi, to prevent out of battery.
so that, I can keep on trying.
