So Neil, that would mean I should be able to use any *original by Garmin* card in my Wing? That's why Garmin can sell those ridiculously priced out-dated maps to us Goldwing owners?
I guess at this point, I'm out of the game. I'm still playing with my 2013.30 mapset, and want to keep my 2009 set intact for emergency purposes.
And I'm finding that anything newer than what I have is larger than 2GB...which means my unit won't load it even from a larger card.
I'm so ticked off at Garmin - I can buy a nüvi with LMT for just a little more than what they want for an *official* Goldwing navi *update* card (so-called) with a mapset that is already outdated (2013.10 is the newest update for the 'Wing! I'm wondering if they use the older maps only because they can't get the new ones on a 2GB card without leaving something out.).
Come to think of it, that may very well be the route I'll take.
I've written to Garmin accusing them of creating unsafe riding conditions for riders by not supplying Goldwing navi owners with more frequent, less costly updates. I believe they have a moral responsibility to do so...either that, or stop putting their units in Goldwings.
By the way, they haven't responded...surprise, surprise.
Well, I didn't mean to shut down the activity on this project, but it looks as if I did. Sorry about that.
You can tell that my quest for an update for my Goldwing was fueled more by frustration than curiosity... It's obvious that Garmin has little interest in providing current updates for the devices installed on the 'Wings (thus, this thread), so I've decided, as have many others, to go another route. My new 3590LMT (refurb) arrived yesterday, and now has the newest 2015.10 mapset... cost was slightly more than what Garmin is charging for their Goldwing update. There are waterproof mounts available so I can use it on my 'Wing. And the whole package is less than half the cost of a Zumo.
Thanks for all the help in getting me as far as I did in this experiment. I learned a lot.
