Can you upload that sys.bin? I used to work with GW2012 and sys.bin was just fw_all.bin. I'm pretty sure the situation is the same with HWID712.
I.e. we don't have boot.bin until we find some GCD file.
But maybe we can use boot.bin from HWID265?

kunix I could try to provide a full dump of USA eeprom but there are two problems.
1. Full dump contains the serial number of the master. Are you able to change it via software?
2. I don't know when it will be possible to do it, because it will be done by a friend of mine not so near to my home
Are you looking for a dump of the 2006 - 2008 v4.5 or v4.6 ? If so I am suppose to have my new unit by Tuesday. If I brick that one you guys are invited to the funeral my wife will kill me.
Currently no, I can't do it, sorry. But I guess it's not really a big problem. In a few months, if I disassemble NV format, I would be able to do it.
We've already dumped everything. And actually the dumper was quite safe in comparison to patched fw_all.bin. It crashed numerous times but the target device is still alive.
I took a look at the sys.bin of HondaGW2009-2010 provided by ErMonter. It does support GCD files. It does support voices in regions 0x11 and 0x13. The only problem, we can't create GCD files for it, as we don't have the original boot.bin.
fw_all.bin and boot.bin of HondaGW2006-2008 most probably are not compatible with ones of HondaGW2009-2010 due to different loading addresses and RAM addresses.
So in order to flash that voice pack I need the original boot.bin, otherwise I would have to patch fw_all.bin and that's PITA.
Sorry kunix the part about bricking it was meant as a joke .
I got the joke. And also I said something useful. No problem.
@kunix
Maybe i've missed something. HWID 0712 (2009-2010 US) sys.bin is just fw_all.bin only, right? If that alone [w/o boot.bin] is supplied on SD by Garmin, as described in the link below, how the dickens does it get loaded? There must be a boot.bin mustn't there? If it's not on the card, is it on the unit's NV somewhere and invoked somehow? Surely if at sometime the boot.bin needed to be updated it would have been written somewhere on an SD update? Maybe these are 'Village Idiot' questions, if so be kind.

Yes, that sys.bin serves as fw_all.bin, the only difference is that it's loaded by the bootloader from the filesystem.
boot.bin is not bootloader, it's ramloader, and "boot.bin" is a misnomer. It's only needed for writing data from RGN or GCD to the flash chip. And after that it disappears. It's not saved anywhere on the device.
I don't think that map update contains GCD file with boot.bin.
