Can I fall back if somethig goes wrong?
I am going to flash an USA unit using italian language. If someting goes wrong, can I flash the original USA voices again?

I'm not sure. For example, flashing logo can make the bootloader crash, as it draws that logo. This would "brick" your device, and you won't be able to flash it again.
On the other hand, flashing voice data should be harmless. Here is one more GCD with only voice data inside: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
And I have your device's region dumps, so you can always go back (if you don't brick your device, of course!).
OK, in other words, starting from EU fw 2.30 you've created a gupdate with
- boot.bin Section=0800 RGN=0C HWID=265 SW=460 (why not 230? may be they are identical?)
- Unknown.bin Section=1105 RGN=11 HWID=N/A SW=N/A (<==== these are the voices, right?)
and now I am going to flash this in a unit having (originally)
- boot.bin Section=0800 RGN=0C HWID=265 SW=450
- fw_all.bin Section=BD02 RGN=0E HWID=265 SW=450
in other words I am only going to write region 11 containing italian voices. And this could be reversible.
Right?
This is only the first step, because to have the multilanguage sw, in a second moment I will must to flash also
- fw_all.bin Section=BD02 RGN=0E HWID=??? SW=260
Do you agree?
v2.30 has a different HWID (504, EU model). I don't know if 265 and 504 can be use interchangeably.Quote:

Region 0x11 contains voices, right.
It should be reversible, yes.Quote:

Yes, you would have to flash a patched fw_all.bin. But I'm not sure which one will fit your US model. Actually we can safely try different fw_all.bin's by packing them and using as boot.bin in GCD file.Quote:

kunix, THANKS!
today 18/05/2013 my Honda GoldWing MY 2008 USA model has v.2.60 multilanguage firmware and speaks in italian.
He sayd to me "acquisizione satelliti"
Just another question: may I save unknown.bin as italian.bin a recreate a new gupdate with boot.bin 2.60 + italian.bin 260?
Congratulations!
But wait... where have you got v2.60 multilanguage ? :)
Concerning unknown.bin... GCD files don't store any section names like "boot.bin" or "fw_all.bin" or "unknown.bin". Those names are assigned by RGN_Tool.
So "italian.bin" or "unknown.bin" doesn't make any difference.
And of course, you are free to make a new GCD, it won't harm.
You can find firmware v.2.60 at #193 from Neil.
Next week, if you want, can be usefull to change °F into °C. If this info is present in a dump.
But v2.60 is an EU firmware... Did you change HWID in order to use it on an US unit?
F and C could be more tricky, as it could require changing the way it's calculated.
Yes, v.2.60 is the last EU firmware, multilanguage (written language) and I used
at first your gupdate
- boot.bin Section=0800 RGN=0C HWID=265 SW=460
- Unknown.bin Section=1105 RGN=11 HWID=N/A SW=N/A
than:
- boot.bin Section=0800 RGN=0C HWID=504 SW=260
- fw_all.bin Section=BD02 RGN=0E HWID=504 SW=260
This is the result GoldWing MY 2006-2008 USA con localizzazione italiano -

Congratulations kunix and carlinux. Nice work. Should this now be split off as a separate thread and added in Tutorials? I think so, what say you kunix and Caty?
PS: Nice vid carlinux!
