Which file should I use Garmincure3 in Original Mode?
Your original gupdate.gcd (the same one that you used to make the cure.)

Format the internal drive with rmprepusb as instructed in the tutorial and create an empty folder named Garmin before flashing original.

Usually it's sufficient to format the SD cards in windows (Fat32)
Do not Use Mac NTFS or LINUX to Format SD Card.

Default Is flash with incorrect firmware curable?

    Dear nuvi experts,
My nuvi 2465LM is Indonesian version (has no voice command feature like other Asian models do), HWID 1327 and has recently turned to brick (hopefully can be cured). The device came with annoying branded car logo and I successfully changed it back to Garmin logo (how to do it I learn from this forum, many thanks for you all). With fully charged battery I updated the firmware to 5.0 vers, and I was not happy with that somehow therefore wanted to downgrade the firmware. So I flashed older firmware using RGN tools and updater. Once flashed, the device just worked fine. It was likely that I put incorrect firmware as car icon on the map sat on a place labelled Garmin US where I was not here. Leaving the nuvi on clear open air for sometime did not help. I then turned the nuvi off and on and nothing happens, just black screen, even the power button is pressed a bit longer. When connected to pc under win7, the screen turns to white and it cannot see the device as mass storage as normally. I also tried to reach preboot mode using Garmin updater 2.8.0 on the same pc, this time it just give me white screen, no logo, no map loading, no flicker screen, no error message, just no anything but the white screen. Experimenting with and without SD card inserted also did not help entering preeboot mode. Lastly, I do not have full back up because I did not know if there is hidden .System folder in nuvi, but never mind. Your help is very much appreciated. Sorry if this post is in wrong thread.

    @abundadian
Moved your post here so it will get more attention.

White screen is a bad symptom, you may have killed it. To do any recovery you usually need preboot. But let's see if it can read from microSD, so try to do an NV backup: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and report. If it can maybe write to and read from the card too then there are other things we can try.

Gday, after inserting the sd card which contains files as suggested, I turned on the nuvi, nothing happened, just black screen. Or it may be directory structure in my card is incorrect or the device loose it ability to read/write? With the sd card I also tried to enter preboot mode, but same result.

Structure seems ok but best to uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types' under Windows Folder Options>View so that you can be sure they are correctly named.

If it cannot read from/write to the card or enter pre-boot then there's no way to run commands or re-flash of course. But we'll not give up just yet.

Your folder naming of '1327' is assuming that the unit's HWID has remained as the original Indonesian. But that depends on how you flashed the US fw to it i.e. did you flash complete US fw or hybrid of ID boot.bin with US fw_all.bin. So some questions:

    1. What did you flash, hybrid or complete?
    2. What version/s?
    3. How did you name the flash, ie: conventionally as 132701000xxx.rgn [where xxx is fw version e.g. 490], or did you use some other name?

I'd be somewhat concerned if you've managed to flash US fw because your device has a different PCB P/N to the US 24x5 series which has HWID 1371. The different HWID is not concerning, but the mismatching PCB P/Ns usually means a complete lack of compatibility between the hardware and firmware. Looking at the comparison:

    ID 2465 PCB PNs

PS: Speak a little 'strine' do you neighbour? G'day back....

Sorry for taking long time to reply, my computer hard drive has died...this gives me double burden to jog my memory down to which firmware I flashed, and not all files can be revived.

Following your suggestion I've made sure that the directory structure and file naming is correct, so yes it's very likely the unit has lost capability to read/write the sd card.
    1. Honestly I cannot remember which firmware I injected, but likely I played with both 2 bin files
    2. on the top of my head, it begins with 2, could be 2.6 or 2.8
    3. I didn't use conventional name for .rgn, instead just words which mean something, definitely not related to s/w verssion.

    Yeah, that's the story...
nb: I stayed for a while in WA some time a go
