Maybe a coincidence, but more probably the key to your success was removing the SD as Caty suggested. An occasional quirk sometimes works the other was too. Removing SD before any flashing with Updater.exe is the general rule, if things don't go right then inserting a clean card can also help to overcome problems occasionally. Enjoy your trip mate.

This made me think you had something in sd which prevented the zumo to work properly, may be a bad file from Express.
Cure is made to ignore these files, but as soon as you loaded the original firmware, zumo was bricked again by that file.
I suggest you format the sd too.

I came here to thank you from all my heart.
I have a Garmin Nuvi 255w bought in Italy.
It's an old model and some friend requested me to "speed it up" so, wrongly I decided to format it like any other tech device (after a proper back-up).
Not only I started to format it but the format was even interrupted by a random BSOD of my pc.
Fortunately the device could still operate with the fabric version of the software but the pc couldn't recognize it.
I tried this cure with a firmware downloaded from one of the websites listed above. Everything proceeded successfully but the device couldn't turn on past Garmin Logo.
So I decided to do the same procedure with the Gcd I had back-uped on my pc.
    Everything works like a charm.
Million thanks to you and every other person who collaborated!!!

Will Windows allow you to delete or re-name any of the corrupt files and folders? Try first to rename the unit to "Garmin nüvi" [without quotes].

As the unit is being recognized by windows, I recommend first to use the windows checkdisk (CMD and type the command:. Chkdsk x: (gps drive) /f /x.
If do not work, I suggest use Hiren's boot tools in the options Hard Disk/Storage or Partition/Boot/MBR.
In the end, you possibly can format, but keep the backup files ready to install before restarting the GPS.

Neil tnx for fast answer, windows can't see device error is usb device not recognized. After QuickCure3 i can see corrupter internal memory, but can't rename, delete or change file name. Also i try to format with PrepUSB and few more small fortware but no new success.
When i start garmin this is error. Only QuickCure3 can make small progress.

Use kunix's GarminCure3.exe in preboot, not Quickcure.

Hi Angelozip, windows can't recognize device, only after QuickCure, i also try command from cmd Chkdsk x: (gps drive) /f /x, message on the fast end is Cannot write boot sector. my idea is to find solution to format memory.
