In this thread, we still don't know if he flash with cure or not and if he flash original in the end.
User ask if he will have after cure all data on nuvi, so if we tell him tu erase NVM, he will lost all, but we try to repair his nuvi with no data lost.

Well, 3 pages in order to find out if CURE firmware was loaded... that's a lot.

    @kunix
That's method of last resort to erase 41 and we all do know it. In the other thread:

    (i) amos1 has no existing NV backup.
(ii)He's not particularly interested in saving his unit [we are]. He's stated that he only wants the data off it. I suggested he attempt 41 backup to see if the unit writes to sd for potential data recovery primarily, erase 41 secondarily in amos1's case.
(iii) If Redrock3 has an existing 41 backup, sure, just erase it now. If he hasn't and is prepared to lose registration and unlock codes then fine, skip the 'trial & error' and do it now.

Surely just better to try getting to the bottom of this problem than go straight to erase 41 though? Or do you know for sure it's hopeless in this case?

It's such a mess, I would have solved both problems quickly and aggressively, using the most powerful methods. I can make and restore NV backups anyway.
But you're doing something too subtle for me to understand. Okay, let it be...

Now I just want to note that you've used a wrong method for running ldr.bin. You should always use [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] when fw_all.bin doesn't boot completely.
Well, I'm sorry for being narrative, but in case of amos1 finding out if ldr.bin was really executed would be really problematic. So let's just execute it directly with updater.exe!

    How?
If you erase region41 how you can restore it back or write something inside?

LOL! Please don't apologise for being being 'narrative' [or as elsewhere 'too verbose' you chatty teenage girl you!]. Mate, you must know that compared to your in-depth software skills and programming knowledge that even Loly and Caty are babes in the woods and i'm not even on the scale. If we bumble around by comparison it's understandable, and we can't learn at the master's knee if he goes all quiet on us. We're hardly doing something 'too subtle for you to understand' [that you've said with tongue in cheek i reckon].

That post on using patched boot bin is quite hidden and might i suggest you make it a tut with full 'blow-by-blow' and we can add directly it in the Tutorial Index where it belongs as a standalone not just tucked away as a precis post on page 4 of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Like Loly, my attention was riveted this statement: 'I can make and restore NV backups anyway'. I also thought you meant you can repopulate the essential info in region41 after it's been erased. That would be revolutionary to me as a dummy-level Garmin wrangler and i guess anyone else. If you ever can do it don't keep it to yourself will you?

Ah, Neil has always been good at making compliments. Women love Neil, I guess
You should know that there are some forums full of guys like me, like exelab.ru or wasm.ru And often I'm "teh most stupid man in the thread" on such forums.

Neil, unfortunately, I can't edit NV records currently.
If I would ever be able to do this, I'm not sure I would publish the NV format or NV editor.
In case I won't, I promise to make a simple "NV distiller" web service or standalone application. Just upload your NV dump, select the record types you want to preserve and voila.

You flatter me, Sir. Women generally avoid me like the plague, especially teenaged girls.

Thanks, but i wasn't for a moment suggesting that if you can do it that you then release a 'how to', that would be foolhardy if not insane. An app would be nice if someone couldn't reverse-engineer it to discover it's mechanism, but an on-line facility would be safest i guess. Anyhoo, yet to happen.
Your self-depreciating comments are noted but not admitted regardless of forum .... 'most stupid man in the thread':

Back to redrock3: If he hasn't topped his nuvi or himself thru boredom at our digressions, I wonder has he managed to backup 41 conventionally or with your modded ldr bin method?
