There are no such thing as "region file". Yes, most probably it's a hardware problem. But wait for someone else like ddabcd277, lolypop000, or Neil to come and help or ask them in private.
In order to restore nonvol memory, proceed as before with the following archive: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
You can't restore the internal flash drive unless you've made a backup before formatting it. But you don't need doing it anyway.

Ok. Thank you very much for the efforts to help me. I will wait for someone else to help if they have the same issue with another device like mine.
Thank you very much again and be happy!

Does anyone know why a device bought in South Africa will always offer South Africa first at the choose country screen after hard reset ?
A device bought in UK will always offer UK first after hard reset at the choose country screen .

It needs more than 4 to go ready to navigate. +- 7 with data the first time.
Do the lines turn blue ?
When the lines turn from hollow to blue it means that it has captured data from satellite.
Try to go to simulation mode and set location to your house. Then put nuvi in power saver mode and then wake it up again.
I do this trick when I travel to UK and it seems to help a bit.
You must set display timeout to never !

If you see 4 satellites on balcony then go outside ( you must have clear view to the sky ) and your nuvi will find satellite in 5min +-

They are 'localised' for the market in which they are sold. Ostensibly the default locale setting is for the user to easily and quickly select their correct locale. However, I suspect it is also linked to the localisation which prevents you adding an LM subscription other than the one same as the OEM map and obtaining ancillary files for a one-off purchase of an area or country not the same as the original map. This is not a firmware function as US/EU/AUNZ/SAf/SAm etc all use the same fw, so it must be linked to the unit's Registration and Unlock codes shown in GarminDevice.xml as written into rgn41 of NV memory. Kunix and Loly would know more i think .

Regarding the sat lock problem of bobokom, a total gps hardware failure will endlessly show the first pic below. If the unit's identifying some sats but doesn't have a fix as in the other pics then i agree with the other comments and the unit should fully lock-on if given a clear view of the sky for up to 30 minutes, stationary if possible. Otherwise it may possibly be a partial hardware failure ...

It`s all the same. I did all things mentioned above, but they didn`t help for the connection to satellites.
