I am a new garmin user. I have a 2595lmt. I followed the instructions and it worked. I tried the simulator to view 3d and terrain so I know that it worked. Then my screen froze and the the garmin screen came on and the garmin words shaked for a split second and then it would not get out of the garmin load screen. I think I bricked it. I even tried garmincure and quickcure with no luck since neither program could find my garmin. My computer would not recognized my garmin anymore so I sent it back to garmin to get it replaced. I am not sure what I did wrong. The only thing I could think of is that I did not enable the hidden folder in garmin when I flashed.

Yes I did. I just purchased the garmin about a week ago and I upgraded the software and updated the maps. so it was still under warranty and they are shipping me out a new one. I even created a poi folder so I could put the Cyclops safety camera folder in, and it worked great. I really did not see a difference in the upgraded software which was provided on this site besides the outline of buildings and the option of 3d and terrain. I did not see any difference in terrain while I was doing the simulation before the garmin restarted in the Garmin words shaked and then it got stuck on that screen. I even tried hard reset and soft reset which did nothing. previous, I had navigon, which I was able to flash different software with success, but garmin seems to be a lot harder. I'm afraid to do anything with my new garmin when it comes in the mail. I was just wanting to see hills and mountains while I was driving. is there a way to remove certain poi showing up on the map that are already installed on the garmin. also can I remove mobile safety cameras from cyclops and just keep fixed cameras from warning me

    Hello friends,
There is a version of the 2565 sold in Brazil that has an unusual blockage. Although it is possible to enable the features in rgn 140 and these appear in supported_features.html file, does not appear absolutely nothing in the Apps menu of gps. Although this model has Bluetooth and microphone could not enable and make icon of voice command (into any language) appears in the menu, nor the Smartphone Link and others. Along with Lolly I try some alternatives, but so far without success. Anyone have any ideas?

If you run webupdater, can you download asr files ( that is available with webupdater ), now when you have asr in html?
Becouse 2565 use the same FW as other 25x5 device i still search what is different on this device that ASR don't work.

    p.s.
I see that SG version of 2565 support/have asr icon.
Do we have some user that have 2565 Singapore device?

    Hi Loly,
This GPS belongs to a friend, I'm not with him at hand. As I remember, the WebUpdater not showed option of ASR/SRD files to download, in any language. He did master reset, clear nonvol, without success. What most interest right now is the Smartphone Link, as the voice command not available in Portuguese BR for the 2012 series, despite being present in the series 2013. That's another problem that I have been trying to solve, but I'll post another topic.
The problem then is not only the voice command, but the fact that none of the functions enabled appear in the application menu (Apps), including Smartphone Link, Media Player, Video Player and Voice Command.
I have backup of all the regions of 2565 and 2595 and most of them are different. The problem is to identify exactly what it means to such differences. If at least we identify the region that shows the applications in the Apps menu, we could copy the complete region of a 2595 to 2565, a little-sophisticated solution, but it may be able to solve.
    Let trying.

    Thanks for your help.

p.s.: I have a strong conviction that all 25x5 with bluetooth (of western) has almost the same hardware (perhaps only with internal memory size variations), ie, that the 2565 is the same as the 2595, and the only difference is in the software / firmware. This is one reason that allows enabling functions in various models of this series and others, such as 34xx, etc. I remembered of a case that I saw in a local forum: a user bought a 2565 but it came with the 2595 Label

When I get my new 2595lmt, I wonder if I shouldn't do the firmware upgrade by SD card, maybe that is how I bricked my last one. What do you think?

    @y6h66
I'm pleased for you that Garmin is replacing your 2595, however I hope you're aware that their firmware didn't brick it. In fact you could have 'un-bricked' it yourself very probably by simply loading V8.20 firmware [or even just the boot.bin of it] as an rgn file loaded via Updater.exe with no need for a cure.

I assume you used the kit in Post #1 for 24x5 with already modded 140.bin. This thread is quite old and in fact has a link in Post #1 referring back to the other newer thread which tells you how to modify region 140 yourself. The kit you used has an old boot component [ldr.bin], V6.30, and the latest fw for 24x5/25x5 is V8.20. What you did by using the old ldr.bin [boot.bin] was replace your unit's Boot BLK and X-Loader with version 6.30 while the System software [the firmware's fw_all.bin] in region 14 was still the latest 8.20. Probably this mismatch of components caused a problem and bricked the unit because the newer system software couldn't load.

Your question 'I wonder if I shouldn't do the firmware upgrade by SD card' raises the possibility that you haven't quite grasped what's happening here. The firmware [region 14] isn't being modified, it's the features already available in that firmware which are being enabled. That's done by modifying region 140. It also begs the question of how you did the modification to the bricked unit, i.e. if you used some other method being as this features upgrade is only done by a card.

If you still have the motivation to do this with the replacement unit please follow this: Clear NonVol on your nuvi or at least hard reset it, then use WebUpdater to load V8.20 if it's not already loaded. Then clear NV or hard reset again. It's very easy and best to make your own modded 140.bin following the instructions and using Roger's application from here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If you don't want to do that, then at least replace the older ldr.bin in the kit you previously downloaded with the one obtained from V8.20 attached here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Extract that file to the 1371 folder of the kit overwriting the existing ldr.bin file.
