It depends on map you are using.
If the map you are using has Speed Limit data, your SLI becomes red when you are over the limit and you hear a sound (if you've enabled "Audible Speed Alerts" in Settings>Map & Vechicle>)
If the map doesn't have Speed Limit, nothing happens.
During Route Simulation you can increase the speed of the car by touching the Speed Limit icon and changing the speed number.
When you reach a road with a different Speed Limit (map data) than the one you've set, your Speed Limit will be restored to the map's value and you will have to change it again.
I think the speed alarm doesn't work in some locale settings :USA NZ and Australia locales. (feature disappears from the menu.) The nuvi 3490 beeps if you go over the speed limit if you choose another locale.
If you set locale to UK you get different speed limit sign, and speed alarm works perfectly, but voice command wont work with Australian English for example I guess.
The text and voice must be the same language and the voice must be a TTS voice.
Another problem is if you're using AUS maps and change to UK locale, there is no way to make Voice Command work (as far as I know) because you don't have the correct UK ASR files. ASR files are specific to their associated maps so using UK ASR files with AUS maps would not work.
I have speed limit alerts in my 34xx with locale set to italian.
In menu must have alerts turned on:
Settings/Map & Vechicle/Audible speed Alerts

WOW, Caty! I was going post this crummy answer:
But your 'Directing Staff' answer is so comprehensive, you should go to the top of the Class Caty .... oh, wait, that's right, you're already there ... ;)Quote:
@x-trail
That function is only available if an EU locale is selected, and then voice command won't work here in AU or for that matter in PH for Kevin. Also, by changing the SLI i don't think that will alter the speed of the car in simulation, even if an EU location is set (afaik).
One thing though, which answer's right with the car speed in simulation? Maybe x-trail's right and it works but only if both EU map and locale is used. I know it won't work on an AU or US map regardless of locale.
device 3790t firmware from 3590 7,80 I did flash with rng tool and updater ... and logo ... I did update with webupdater .... and I copied all files from folder enable features to I/:garmin... and 3d buildings dont work and mp3 in audible too dont work
Oh ok, that explains it. I set my locale to Pilipinas (PH) which is I why there is no Audible Speed Alert in my options. I noticed that Auto Zoom is present in both UK and AUS locale, is that feature supposed to be present on all locales? I don't see it on my device.Quote:

...Sighhh.... Best to just use the microSD card update method, that is unless you want the practice and experience in flashing using rgn and enabling features with xml files.
You said you flashed 3590 7.80 fw. A typo i assume.
3d buildings will only work if you also have the unlocked gmap3d.img corresponding to your CN version in your unit. Webupdater does not update it, get it from the map thread.
Your mp3 files don't go in Audible which is for audio books. They go in a root folder named MP3 (just create it).
@kevin992002
Yes, locale dependent. No auto zoom for PH, but there is for SG and probably others in SEA for that matter. Dunno why.
[Best to edit your quotes down a bit, keeps the thread more readable] ;)
cn europe ntu 2013,40 + 3d all unlocked ... Can you write all instructions with those XML files to me it all work?Quote:

Regarding my map, I'm using the Roadguide PH map with 34xx that has a modified TYP file to widen the roads. It worked properly with the 3790 firmware but it seems that the roads are back to being narrow with the 34xx firmware. What could I be missing here?
