You are just not experienced. Most of not experienced users are confused by that Webupdater or Nuvi boot screen indicates one model and in fact it acts like other model.Quote:

We can try to change this number in reg 41 if someone have courage, becouse we don't know yet what will happend if we edit this reg and flash it back.
As having made a reg 41 backup of my 3760 before flashing it to 3490 I used WinHex to find the device ID in the 41.bin file, but I was not succesful.
Maybe the ID is crypted or stored in another reg.
I also have a 3750 (unfortunately with a defective LCD/Touch), with this device I would it risk to patch reg 41.
ID is in reg 41 and is crypted ;)
What do you mean by device ID? If it's HWID so there is no need to change it.Quote:

Or you mean UnitID?
I mean this one (device.xml)
-<Model>
<PartNumber>006-B1101-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>500</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>nüvi 3750</Description>
</Model>
<Id>38045xxxxx</Id>
In german it's called "Geräte-ID" so it should be UnitID and i.e. displayed when you start the WebUpdater
Yes, that's the UnitID and there is no good reason to want to change that. That is, unless you are wanting to clone another unit (which is not a 'good' reason). Maybe, i've missed something here but i thought you were wanting to change the Model Number from 3760 to 34xx to display on your nuvi splash screen and in WebUpdater as you posted here:
Is that what you are trying to achieve, when you said that you wanted to "correct" this issue?Quote:

Also the part quote in your post above is from the GarminDevice.xml from a 3750. I'm now confused.
He have nuvi 3750 ;)
We try to find out how to change model number on first screen and in garmindevice.xml
I change in reg41 decimal 3750 to 3790, result is, 37xx in garmin device.xml
Now i change hex string for 3750, we will se result tomorow. ;)
p.s.
@Neil read all posts not only every other :police: :)))
He have working nuvi 3760 converted to 34xx and 3750 with touch panel problem.

I dont know why you want to try to brick you units for nothing.
Which is the gain in having 3490 instead of 3790 at start?
If you have to send it to service it wont help for sure. Useless exercizes IMHO.
