What do you have in Setting/Info/About?
Send it to Garmin, your nuvi has too many problems, probably that update damaged nuvi nv.
We could try to restore nv , but I guess you dont have nv backup.

Unfortunately no i do not have nv backp since i never thought that the webUpdater cause a problem. Setting--info--about--is 3450 and everything r the same bsides those extra feature that only 3490 would have, not 3450. So, What's my excuse of telling nuvi when they see those extra feature, bluetooth, voice command, etc?Quote:

again thanks for all the help. plus i don't think they send me a refurbished since mind only been 2wks. Garmin rep gave me her personal work email so that communication r ez, instead of going to various rep. i already email her the picture of those dot. her reply when she saw the pic

Thank you for the reply. The pictures seem to make the marks look almost like a fine crac.k. Are you able to see the markings when the unit is off too? Does the display have any distortion or discoloration?
Quote:
it's not a crac.k. The screen is smooth when feeling it. No distortion nor discoloration. When it's off I hardly see it since the screen is dark. When it's on yes I can see the dot as in the pictures. However, that dot thing, sometime I see it. For instead, last night at home I saw it and able to took pic for you. And now as I'm emailing you, I can't see it. But earlier today, I saw it.
Another thing was before the v7.10 update, my PC, Windows 7, able to find nuvi right away, in a second. Now, it took about a min or so. Plus some time it asks me to scan the nuvi.
Thanks,
Good reply, yes try to remove everything you havent got from Garmin, unlocked maps ,cyclops etc
As I know,Garmin always replaces non working devices with refurbished ones.
Question about backing up the NV memory. I followed the instructions in post # 337 in preparing the SD card. I shutdown the nuvi, inserted the card and turned it on. The Gamin logo comes up, the "Loader" words comes up, then disappears. Now I just have the Garmin logo and a thin green bar at the bottom edge of the screen. The bar goes from the start of the "A" in "Garmin" to about the end of the "M" in Garmin. It's been sitting here like this for about 10 minutes and nothing else has happened. What should I do? Did I do something wrong?
According to post #337, it should have rebooted on its own after writing the NV backup, but it's stuck at the Garmin logo with this green bar at the bottom.
EDIT: SOLUTION WAS FOUND. See Post # 525.
Have you removed the sd?
Quote:
Insert the sd in your nuvi, you'll see at boot a software loading message and nuvi will write your NV backup in sd, let it reboot, shut it down, remove the sd and keep your Nuvi NV backup in a safe place.
For dumping nv , you can force power off anytime. No problem at all.
I ended up forcing a shutdown (by holding the power button for 10 seconds) while the green bar and Garmin logo was still on. Then I removed the SD card and started up the unit again. Everything seems ok and the SD card contains the backup file 41_backup.bin.
One suggestion for the instructions in post # 337: In the instructions it seems like you should put the following text in the update.txt file:
rrgn,41,1:/41_backup.bin
reboot
but the "reboot" command is not recognized according to the update.log file. So the only text that should be in the update.txt file is:
rrgn,41,1:/41_backup.bin
EDIT: SOLUTION WAS FOUND. See Post # 525. Reboot command is valid. I had a space after "reboot".
Normally, reboot command should work. ;)
