More logic path to replace UnitID or unlock codes by any symbol such X for example. GarminDevice.xml have even more useful information about device in comparison with copies of files!!!
But do not share .System\Diag with the exception of html folder with supported_features.html. Diagnostic dumps is very intimate too. List of venereal diseases with UnitID has intended only for head physician from Garmin support

    @Fa_Piter

Main 'differences' from Fa_Piter 34xx unit software and 37xx->34xx unit software appear to be as follows:
    0:\.system
    \BTM
    006-D1283-00.bin
    006-D1283-01.bin
    006-D2484-00.wav

    \Fonts
    DigiGarmin.ttf

    \RemoteSW
    006B121102.GCD
    006B139900.GCD

    Possible File use:

    006-D1283-00.bin and,
006-D1283-01.bin appear to be related to Blue Tooth phonebook entries and have been around at least since 7xx series.

    006-D2484-00.wav is a ring tone.

DigiGarmin.ttf is a Garmin true type font file.

006B121102.GCD is Touchpanel software version 1.23 for 37xx series

006B139900.GCD appears in HEX file to be related to BBP Software GTM60 (HD Traffic ?) Also mentions 006-B1401-00 ? Maybe gives 37xx ability for HD traffic using updated receiver??

    0:\Tutorials
Contains .png, .glx and xml files for specific countries.

    0:\Audible
    \Position
    Audible contains .aax files
    Position contains .pos files
Files relate to Audio Book "The Far Hours"

    @Fa_Piter
Also GtmData.xml in .system folder will contain Unit ID. Best deleted too.

    @fringe

    Only three real difference:

    1) \Fonts
    DigiGarmin.ttf

    2) 006B139900.GCD appears in HEX file to be related to BBP Software GTM60

    3) 0:\Audible

All other files are present in both device.

0:\Tutorials and Demo\ was deleted after first satellites fix usually.

No BTM folder in my unit (either 3790 or 37xx->34xx). Maybe Region dependant or more likely, mobile phone model dependant. I don't get phonebook either on my device (have 'older' LG phone) which may explain missing files.

006B121102.GCD (Touchpanel software version 1.23) This file has differences to the 006B121102.GCD posted for 37xx on other thread. Compared files in HexEdit. Maybe filed is 'tuned' to give accurancy on different production runs but seems silly if Garmin giving different files the same name.

Suspect \Audible is created only when loading an audio book.

006B139900.GCD could be the interesting one for HD receivers maybe?

006B121102.GCD - I have a collection different version of this files. It is not available from webupdater, but it comes or not with some Nuvi 37xx.

BTM folder is always present in device 3xxx and 7x5 so (the same BT chip). In one's time Garmin support tried to change strings in this files for my Nokia but no result too

[3760-->3490] I created one in .System and everytime I connect it to my PC, is empty.
When I first paired 3490 to my Galaxy S2, it asked for permission to access contacts and call history.
Then it transferred all my contacts and history to 3490, but when I connect to pc, BTM is still empty.
Second connection to Galaxy S2 and then after, it dosen't ask for permissions any more and my phonebook is already in 3490.

They appear when you are on a route and then after.
Set up a simulation route, start driving it, they show up.
Cancel the route and they still appear on screen until you do a Hard Reset or you connect to PC.

Touch the dot and I get an info bar identifying the poi as the required rest area.

I just don't know what 'normal' behaviour is for 34xx.

Perhaps someone could kindly upload a 'working' custom icon they have and I will use poi loader to combine with one of my gpx files to test.
Yes, in Browse Map, when you try to search them using the transparent bar on the right, they appear as blue dots, like all other original Garmin pois.
I beleive that this is made by Garmin, because you don't anymore search "a point on map" but "an area" (blue circle) and if there are many big icons in the circle, is not easy to show all of them in such a small place.
Go back to the Navigation Map and they appear with their custom icons again.

3490 can show both 8 bit AND/OR 24 bit icons (yes!) at the same time (8 bit and 24 bit .bmp in the same folder)
So we can use our old 37xx icons and any new 24 bit we find/draw.

3490 can also show transparent icons, using Magenta color (R:255, G:0, B:255) as transparent color, but only if the icon's color is 8 bit.
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I have most of the custom icons I use.

If you have you must download CN again to get this file or find user with 34xx and lifetime of CN NA and ask him to redownload maps and send this file to you.
Thanks. Can somebody upload the ASR and or SID files from 3490 for the CN North america maps? Thanks!
