i did clear the nonvol before updating with webupdater and after instaling the update, will try the solution of deleting the gcd file
do i have to only delete this file or i must do something else also?
BTW thanks to everybody helping on this matter
i did deleted the file but this morning it did it again and re-did it this afternoon, i hate B. Spears but my nuvi seems to adore her . . .
Does anyone know what defrag count means from nuvi developer info nonvol statistics menu ?
I dont know what it is exactly but each time the device reboot from a trap this counter increases . . .
regarding rebootsi managed to get 300km offroading this weekend without any reboot
While I didn't get a great many RTL trap errors with the firmware, I ended up encountering another issue related to the 5.70 firmware that only appeared in the last couple days. When not navigating and zoomed in to maximum, the screen is slow to redraw at highway speeds. In fact the screen is so slow that the road will disappear off the bottom of the screen and leave me floating in space for some seconds before the road reappears. Both times the slow screen redraws were accompanied by a RTL trap error, so I reverted to 5.40 for the time being. Even if the slow screen redraw and RTL trap errors are merely a coincidence, I would rather sacrifice the icons for my favorites in favor of a properly functioning GPS. For me, the icons not appearing on my screen for my favorites was never a major issue to begin with and the fact 5.70 fixed the favorites bug was a nicety, but 5.70 has introduced new bugs that I hope Garmin has been notified about.
I hope that you send to Garmin this observation.
Already done, with a request that they release a new firmware ASAP.
After 15 days without RTL Trap my Unit started misbehaving again with 5.70, RTL Trap, Data exception Error, Abnormal Powerdown. I went back to 5.10.
The 5.10 firmware works fine with Modified Splash for 5.70 as supplied by Lolypop000.
Conclusion 5.70 Sucks on a Nuvi 1300. Maybe Garmin wants customers to buy new nuvi for XMAS by supplying faulty firmware.
Every Firmware after 5.10 is faulty to a degree. What's up Garmin ?
Garmin decided to try sending a boilerplate reply, telling me to do yet another hard reset. The last three I had done didn't help any so why would the fourth be any different? Oh, and don't forget to use an official Garmin power supply. *rolls eyes*
I told them, in a very nice way, to stop wasting my time and to get their engineers on this problem.
UPDATE: Garmin apologized for the inconvenience and offered to send me 5.40 to test. I didn't take them up on it since I had already put 5.40 back on from a back up of the 1300. I did tell them that with 5.40 on the 1300 I received no RTL Trap errors, and the screen redraw rate was greatly improved. The redraw rate isn't perfect but I can deal with the screen taking a second or two to redraw once in a while over the screen taking fifteen seconds to redraw every minute or two.
UPDATE #2: Garmin asked me if I had the error logs. I sent what I had to them, since I did a quick back up of the .System directory before changing firmware versions.
