My dad is quite similar to your dag :)
I saw Kunix offerede to help you, so maybe you now can help me ?
My dad activated garmin-lock somewhere in Germany, driving home from Paris, about 3 months ago.
When he yesterday brought me the Nuvi for an update, he had this attitude of:
"Oh - by the way, it want's a pin, and i don't remember - you probably can fix that !".
I started with a good long talk about his trip, and what might have been in his mind for use as
pin, i then triede the most common attempts of guessing the code, no luck.
Also tried most common serial entries: 1111, 2222, 1234, 2345 and so on, no luck.
I have been searching high and low, had some atempts wiith GarminCure3, but no
succes, i get acces to the unit as a drive, but no matter what i tried, it did not remove the pin.
What i did not try is a format of the unit, filling all the memory with zero's and then reformatting
it, and restoring the files, but i am considdering it, though i think - can it be that "easy" ?
(And also - that attempt somehow is not to my liking.)
I then read a bit more, and found references to a modified micro-usb-cable, and also
to memroy region 40, that normally can not be handled. Also there is some mentioning
og special USB-commands, but i find no references on "how to".
Can you give me some advice, or point me in a direction ?
No way to remove pin lock. Probably kunix could help, but..Quote:

This forum doesnt help thieves, neither users who bought stolen devices on Ebay or somewhere else, so these infos are not given without precautionary measures.
If you have paper or bill that device is yours and you ar legal owner of this device then we maybe can help you, if you can't prove that device is yours then we can't help you.
If kunix help @deividgv i am sure that @deividgv don't know what kunix did.
Flashing firmware will not remove pinlock.
There are only 9999 possibilities. !!:)))
Question: How do i backup and later restore region 41 ?
Yes, 9999 possible solutions, and building a brute-force contraption, would:
1. Be more fun, than shipping to Garmin.
2. Would cost less than shipping to Garmin.
3. Would take more time, than i have for this.
As said before, cloning nuvis is not fair. Look for infos elsewhere.
