Need help! Anyone have Garmin Astro 220 older US- firmware? New US- firmware (3.7) rendered the radio operating distance unoperable here in Europe. I think this was done deliberately by garmin. Before the distance was 1-1.5miles in thick terrain but now just 300-400yards and the dog signal gets lost. We would have to downgrade the firmware to get the radio power back to normal. Now the unit is not usable for our dogs. :(
Could only find the 3.7 firmware so far...
I may be wrong, but i think his immediate problem is to first find an older version of Astro 220's fw, not so much on how to downgrade it. I've done a quick check of the usual haunts but come up empty as well. Maybe someone still has it on their computer.
Yes... nothing to be done bfore older version is found... :(
We didn't look properly in our own backyard, there's a possible solution for you right here in our forum. Do you need to have EN as a language? If you can get by with FR instead and still have Norsk & Svenska you could use PouchX's V3.52 which he modified from V3.50: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. It will also overwrite your current Basemap to a renamed Atlantic V2 which will identify as 'European basemap by *PouchX* ver.' instead of 'Rec Routable Hwy Basemap, ATL v2' but it's exactly the same map. If you don't want to replace the basemap because you already have ATL onboard, then open the PouchX firmware 057001000352.rgn in RGN_Tool, then press 'Save' on the boot.bin [second Section in this fw] and do the same with fw_all.bin [third Section in this fw]:

Now open the saved boot.bin with RGN_Tool [first Section will be correctly populated automatically], check the second Section and press 'Load' to populate it by selecting your previously saved fw_all.bin. It's optional, but i would override the SW Version to 350 to match the fw_all version with the boot version 3.50. Save the file as 057001000350.rgn to avoid overwriting the original file:

If you really want to have English, you can first change the FR back by re-adding the EN translation. See here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] kunix's Post #14. Or you could maybe block copy the English from V3.70 to the modded 3.52 overwriting the Français in a hex editor.
When ready, connect your Astro to your PC, drag either 057001000352.exe or 057001000350.rgn onto Updater.exe and flash. If you'd prefer not to use the custom updater by PouchX, you can get the standard one here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...].
If you try this please report what you try and how it goes.

I had the same problem trying to downgrade from version 4.30 to version 3.40; I downgraded to version 3.20 using instructions above and now my Nuvi 55 is working fine.
2016.10 NT maps work?
