Hi i have the garmin, it does not have a reset button at the bottom. The sticker shows no "reset", shame i know i think it was still great advice to check at the bottom.
so i tried to do the, hold the battery icon until diagnostic mode appears, that came up as described. i connected it to the pc and it wasnt recognised still.
Any more of your great knowledgeable advice? i feel we are close to a solution.

I have exaclty the same problem with my nuvi 250. i have tried LOTS of things, including flashing the software with different versions and "cure" version but none of it works. I realise now that it is not a problem with a corrupted map. It will only start when I have an SD card inserted. I am at a loss! Have you had any luck??
