Guide Mapear and cGPSMapper Maps issue on Android Garmin Street Pilot 2.16-workaround

Hope you can tell me if you are experiencing same problems
Confirmed that app crash is happening to all argentine users, I suspect the issue is a combination of memory errors AND maps (Proy.Mapear). Using any memory tool, or compiling with MapInstall doesn't improve it at all.

I'm going to try a different approach: compile just a smaller region of the map collection: e.g., only Buenos Aires city, because clearly, there is an error in the routing information that they have compiled on some area of the map (hopefully not all of it).

For those outside Arg., let me clarify: 'Proyecto Mapear' are the best available GPS-road routing maps in our country; however, it is a community-mantained project, so the files are built with non-official tools. It used to work flawlessly on older garmin software (like Mobile XT on Symbian or WM), but apparently, recent apps like StreetPilot have some issues with it.
Unfortunately, project mantainers won't hear anything from this community, because they consider SP on Android, illegal and against Garmin

Question to all argentinians: which version are you trying to run? on which phone, and with what firmware?

I'll post results on my attemps later.

Mod note: workaround in post n.20

If you agree ,I'd move your post with a new title like: Mapear Map issue on Android Garmin Street Pilot 2.16 to main Garmin on Phone section, for better visibility and because it's a specific problem Mapear map's related.

I think isn't just Mapear problem, but the crashes happen with all cGPSMapper maps .
May be someone else can confirm this.

It's the maps from Mapear Project!! I installed City Navigation South America and works fine no crashes at all. Calculate any Route and works fine de 2013 version it's pretty complete, 3D Buildings, etc. and have small’s towns too.

    Hi,

The people from Mapear Project is not protecting Garmin because SP "illegal" or whatever... Mapear is not involved with Garmin people, that's why they use cGPSMapper and not an "official" compiler for the maps. Is not a "monopoly", is just a free and collaborative project.

Seems there are misconceptions or bad intentions around here against Mapear. They work for free...!!! And they have the better maps because the members collaborations... Geez...

I think other maps from cGPSMapper will have the same issues. Maybe you can try with Tracksource from Brazil or Malsing maps.

    Regards.

That's not true. They don't want to discuss anything about SP because they argument to be a "non official Garmin application for Android", which is totally absurd, since they are not working with Garmin and, as you said, using a non official compiler for the maps.
Mapear moderators are the most authoritarian people I have ever seen on a forum.
Anyway, that's not what we're discussing here.
Mapear maps are the best for Argentina, unfortunately they won't work properly on SP.
I would like to know if the issue is the same on SP for iOS or Windows Phone.
    Greetings.
