Hi, thanks for your post. I'm trying to set up like you describe so I can use the VENRUT maps, I have one -I hope- "dumb" question since I'm kind of new into this. When you say:
How can I generate the gmapsupp.img file? I have installed MapSource and another program called IMG2GPS, the second is very easy to use but I don't know if I have to select all the files of the VENRUT. Here goes a picture so you can follow me better:Quote:
05. Download your favourite map (Mapear, VENRUT, etc), generate the IMG with MapSource or MapInstall, put the file (gmapsupp.img) in your storage card at "/Garmin /Map" NOTE: The Map folder (inside Garmin folder) does not exist and you have to create it... Just make sure DO NOT put at "/Garmin /Garmin"

So as you can see in the image, there are all the img's for the zones and then there are those 3 last files:
-Venrut.img
-Venrut.TYP
-Venrut_mdr.in
My question is, do I have to select them all or just the img's? or if you could explain to me how to do it with MapSource I'll be much grateful.
So thanks again, excellent post. I'll give it a try this way, if it doesn't work I'll know that it was because of the gmapsupp.img.

I'd already seem all the video tutorials from the gpsyv website and anyone solved my doubt. Earlier I found here on the forum a post where someone had what I needed.
Thanks anyway! :)
Hi, does anyone knows why I can't search by address? The map shows them, but if I search by address nothing comes out
Thanks!
Use original maps and you'll be able to use search feature
This Workaround can work.... But I think the problem is with cGPSmapper you are using to create the map..... Free cGPS mapper dosent support routing, POI, City Indexing etc.... Basically it can only make custom IMG. The IMG created has routing information but it is broken(intentionally) by Free cGPSmapper. Try using a commercial one.... I used that to create Asian maps and it works!!!
Good Day
Extract the poi and polygon from those cgpsmapper maps and merge it with the official nt maps... I've done with the latest maps for navteq maps you get everything but overlap polygon with Malfreemaps you get everything

I have the following and your tutorial did not work for me, do you have news?
Galaxy S3, 4.1.2 Movistar, rooted
StreetPilot 2.22, SD Card Version (no ROOT) taken from this forum
GMAPBMAP.IMG and GMAPTZ.IMG both from SP 2.22 are the same that you provide (they are binary identical
City Navigator South America 2014.40 unlocked as GMAPPROM in the .System folder
Mapear 11.1 in the Map folder
Both maps enabled.
Unfortunately when entering the first data to look for (address number) it crashes and goes back to Home screen just as it did before trying your trick.
When I search restaurants, it finds and routes, and sometimes I can see the route drawn on screen but I can't tell which map its using...
I have tried XPosed to set the locale to Español (España) to see if it helped, but no luck. (Helps TomTom to talk in spanish instead of English as its the language my phone is set to)
