i installed and ran garmin 2.2 usa following tony's instructions. wonderful tutorial post. thanks!

    so, i added:
    - 2013.40 north america map image to storage-usa/.System/
    - 2013.40 JCV Lite to .System/JCV (~25mb)

    removed:
    - existing base map image on 2.2 usa (~50mb)

downloaded from Extras menu in the app (all these showed up as free):
    - PhotoReal Junction View | i see a new JCV file in sdcard/garmin/JCV (~145mb)
    - 3-D Buildings and Landmarks (2013.10) | this shows up in library/sdcard/garmin (~183mb)
    - trafficTrends

however, i have a few questions:

    1. i can't see traffic info at all on the app. when i press the traffic icon, it says "No traffic data." i can add cameras to myCameras, but don't see any live traffic info. did i do something wrong?

    2. when i try to use a phone contact as destination point, the address search takes forever to load (actually it doesn't find address at all).

    3. (may be related to #2, but i'm not sure) i have 2 different sid files: one in Library/sdcard/Garmin/SID and the other in garmin-nav.app/storage-usa/.System/SID. one of them is dated 9/24/12 (~272mb), the other says modified 4/7/13 (~150mb)

    3. can someone please share the files and instructions on how to add the other Extras to my app:
Urban Guidance, Panorama View 3D, Traffic (#1)?

"edit: is it possible i could delete one of the jcv or sid files to save some space?"

and thanks catymag for the 2.2 app link pm!

i would really appreciate the assistance, and i'm sure this will also be very useful for a lot of others out there.

ffly--I'm doing this by memory since I'm not at home right now:

You only need one JCV file...not unless you're running maps for more than one country/region--e.g., North America and Europe; you put them either in ***/.System/JCV or ***/Library/sdcard/Garmin/JCV--not both. Also--technically you do not need to download the JCV file from Extras menu...not unless your main purpose is to see the "checkmark" symbol next to it--besides, even if you do download it from Extras, it will be an older JCV version so it won't do you much good...speaking of which--finally, the JCV version has to match that of the main map version, so if you're running 2013.40 maps as you indicated, then you need to use the 2013.40 version of the JCV file as well--for 2013.40 NA the filename is D3060090A.JCV. Not sure why you chose to install the JCV "Lite" version...not unless space on your iPhone is at a premium.

Same deal with the SID files--all have to be the same version (2013.40) and go either in ***/.System/SID or ***/Library/sdcard/Garmin/SID, but not in both places. I think someone else posted a link (either here or elsewhere) as to where to download the 2013.40 SID files--without the proper SID files is why your search via the Contacts is taking forever.

For Panorama View 3D you will need to download and install gmapdem.img; this file goes in ***/Library/sdcard/Garmin; note--if you're concerned enough about space that you're asking to see if you can delete the extra SID and/or JDV files, then installing Panorama View 3D may not be a viable option for you, as it is 878 MB in size.

Urban Guidance works only when setting a destination in Pedestrian mode, and only when in certain cities...and of course either prerequisite assumes you've installed my plist files--one of which enables the option to select different Public Transportation transit types.

What I would recommend you do first is to locate and install the correct version of the JCV and SID files (again, you will need to find them elsewhere), delete the extra set of JCV and/or SID files that you may have on your phone, then delete all of the files outlined in my tutorial, then see if things work again. The only thing you will actually need to install from the Extras menu is the "Add trafficTrends" feature; you don't even need to install the "Add 3-D Buildings and Landmarks" feature from Extras if you already have the file (gmap3d.img) installed. Finally, also verify that your /etc/hosts file is correct as outlined in the tutorial.

thanks for that very helpful reply!
i see transit instructions (urban guidance) shows up automatically when i choose pedestrian mode. and traffic data also became available on its own a few hours later.
chose to put the JCV Lite version on the phone because i wasn't sure which file would be the correct one, as they were in folders for nuvi 7xx/2xxx. so, does that mean i can use D3191080A.JCV if i wanted junction view images in split screen rather than full screen? junction photos actually showed up with the lite version also. i'm guessing the other larger files have it for more intersections.

not exactly running out of space on the iPhone, but keeping unnecessary files does not make sense.
wanted to check how panoramic 3d looked on the phone. can't find the .dem file here. only one i found (~900mb) froze and crashed the app. didn't see any difference on the map either.

and... is the 2013.40 sid file really supposed to be 800mb?! (downloading it from forum link right now. thanks, catymag, for that!)
does it have any purpose other than the phone contacts search?

I dont have experience with iPhone, but on Android, Street Pilot acts and uses files like on nuvi 34xx ,so I guess you can use full res. split screen JCV

I have problem with current lane display,it's not working. It works on USA 2.0 but not for USA 2.2. Anybody has same problem?
(I used the same plist file on both.) Any solution? Thanks in advance.

ffly--I'm not quite sure how the junction view looks like onscreen when using the JCV Lite version; however, I do know that with the JCV full (i.e., hi-res, or PhotoReal, or whatever else you want to call it) version and default plist files--when the screen is in landscape mode you get the splitscreen junction view; my TargetConfig.plist file overrides it so that you see the junction view in fullscreen when in landscape mode. If you prefer the splitscreen junction view when in landscape mode and you are using my TargetConfig.plist file, you will need to manually edit the file and change the value for the fullscreen junction view setting to false.

Check your TargetConfig.plist file settings; what exactly do you mean when you say that "it's not working"? Does it not display at all? Are you referring to the Lane Assist feature? If indeed you are talking about the Lane Assist display/feature, there is a setting in TargetConfig.plist that controls which type of LaneAssist image is displayed--there are two types--the default is the one that shows up in the upper left-hand corner as a green-background box and displays both lane arrows and miles to the next turn; the alternate version is a much smaller oval-shaped white-background (I think--not 100% sure of the color) image at the very bottom center of the display and displays only the lane arrows.
