Or just try using different map. Maybe the one you are using don't have enough info. ;)

Just to be clear, those POI files that end in .db (like in the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]) won't work for this app, correct?
I downloaded the Garmin USA 2.0 from installous but i don't understand what the step3 mean? Why do i delete all 4 .img files and download new map files? What new map files and where/how do i doanload it? Shouldn't the Garmin USA 2.0 already has all the correct USA map already in the package ready to use? Please advise what i need to do to get it working. Thanks a bunch.!!!

@Neil I will just ignore you and all your shot in the dark answers which does not help anyone.
@trav7414 - You asked if u should delete all 4 .img files.
The answer to that depends on what map you want in your Garmin. The download from installous comes with a USA map.
The four .img files are:
- gmapbmap.img - this is the world base map. You can keep this map because its a summary of the whole world and its size is small.
- gmaptz.img - this is the time setting. You can keep this because it is small in size and u may need it when u go to different countries.
- gmapprom.img - the map downloaded from installous is locked. You can delete this and download an UNLOCKED map somewhere (checkout the latest map in this forum)
- gmap3d.img - this is the 3D buildings in USA. U can delete this and download a new 3D which comes with yr new map.
If u are looking for USA map, u can download from here:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
download the CN North America NT 2012.40 UNLOCKED IMG - NOT the MAPSOURCE one.
You should also re-download the JCV file and replace the JCV file in the /var/mobile/Applications/???numbers???/garmin-nav.app/storage-usa/.System/JCV folder. I used the D3060050A.JCV file.
Hope this helps. Because if it does help then i would have helped 2 people more than @Neil.

Be aware that some of that info is simply wrong or misleading. i.e.:
Correct advice is: 'You really should (or must) keep this map. The main use for basemap is to allow for browsing big areas. Detailed maps just are not able to cope with that. With big zooms, the device switches to the basemap. Without a basemap everything will work very slowly or may even crash. A more detailed explanation by Catymag here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]'.Quote:

Correct advice is: '...the map downloaded from installous is locked. If it is the map you require, simply unlock it with [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. If it is not the required map, you can delete it and download any map from the Index: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. A locked image can of course be unlocked with FUI. For use of a mapsouce map see below.Quote:

Correct advice is: Quickest way if you want the full map is to dl an image file. However CNNTNA & CNNTEU are big files so if you don't need the whole map and space is an issue, the best way is to dl the full Mapsource version or a gmap folder and just select the parts you require with [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. A very easy program to use for most people. Read the MS thread on tips for using the patched MS version, also a very good tut is in catymag's thread [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...].Quote:

Replying to me by definition is not ignoring me. You probably meant "I shall ignore you from now on", which is fine by me. I see you have not learned anything in regard to posting wrong & misleading information ie: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] and [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. I suggest you do some self-education on Garmin: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] although i doubt you will listen to me this time either.
Owww! Sticks & stones etc :). Wow...glad you made it clearer ;).Quote:

Where do you put the Cyclops files and do they actually work on garmin iPhone please if anyone knows for sure !!!
I'll probably get caned for this if it doesn't work. I don't have access phone at the moment so i can't check it, but there was been some cover on POIs earlier in the thread, [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...], culminating in [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] which states that this works:
/ var / mobile / aplications /,, xxxxxxxxxxxx,, / Library / sdcard / garmin / POI (the xxx are letters and numbers)
If that doesn't work, put the *.gpi files into the directory "............/ Library / sdcard / POI".
You will have to create the POI sub-folder in either case. Post #1 displays a different file structure in some members' experience.
If it works, you should be able to search for a point of interest from "Where to" menu> to find them, but maybe won't find them from the "Points of Interest" menu, or display any sort of custom poi categories. That is you have to know for what you are searching.
Another one of my 'shots in the dark' i'm afraid. Please report back if you get it to work.
