Unfortunately the TH JCV's are encrypted and 'locked' to their specific firmwares, as are all SEA jcv files. Even using a related SEA fw will not show them (eg SG/MA jcv's won't show on a TH fw model). Attempting to display them on a US/EU firmware Garmin unit will often cause a crash/reboot error, eg 1xxx units will crash. I haven't checked, but maybe your US Nuvi 3790 could be cross flashed with an appropiate local fw to read them, but such flashing is never without some risk, greater or lesser depending on the Garmin model. Search the forum if you want to try on your 3790.

To the best of my knowledge no modification of the Garmin iphone us/eu has been attempted to overcome this. It would require a lot of knowledge and work, but maybe the TN fw would be more adaptable?

No unfortunately last year I couldn't get it to flash to any firmware that would allow the 3790US to use Thai JV. Right now I am on SG 2.30, as it seemed to be the most stable. I haven't tried since Aug 2011 to flash to any other firmware to test it out. As for the iPhone, I haven't tested if JV works yet, but will do so tomorrow, but I am not optimistic.

As another note, I am in Bangkok, and the time is correctly set to local time on my iPhone, but the Garmin system believes the time is UTC -6, so Central/Mountain time in the US. I can't find a setting anywhere to change the time that Garmin believes it is. I have gone through all settings several times. So when I set a destination, it lists my time of arrival as 13 hours behind. For example, currently it is 4:00PM 15 May here, and a destination 5 minutes away would list an arrival time of 3:05AM, and since we are ahead in Thailand, that means it is calculating arrival at 3:05AM 15 May. Does anyone know how to correct this?

    Thanks
    John

    omcx123,

Can you provide any additional help on Step 4. I just don't see where I put these urls. I have jailbroken 3gs/5.0.1 with installous, installed Garmin USA 2.0 (downloaded from link given on top of this thread) using iTunes and get "authentication failure" message as you show on note 2. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give.

Before you start, you will require - Installous, iFile (trial version is ok).

Step 1 : Download and install "Garmin U.S.A. 2.0" from Installous (not Garmin StreetPilot 6.5.5).
Step 2 : Use iFile to look for the folder where it is installed and go to the ".system" folder (dotSystem not System). It should be in /var/mobile/Applications/???numbers???/garmin-nav.app/storage-usa/.System
Step 3 : Delete the .img files in the .System folder (you will have to download new map files)
Step 4 : Use iFile to modify the /etc/hosts file (putting the 127.0.0.1 triplew.garmin.com and gold.garmin.com) & Save. Make sure you check the ownership.
Step 5 : Restart iPhone and open the Garmin program.

Note 1. If you see "Activation of maps require internet connection" it means you didnt delete the .img file in the .System folder.
Note 2. If you see "Authentication failure, must buy original apps from appstore" it means you didnt modify the /etc/hosts file properly.

Step 6 : Use a computer to download a map for your country. Search for the latest map.

Note 3. There are 2 types of maps. Unlocked or locked. Read more on how to unlock a map using a keygen.

Step 7 : Insert the map in the /var/mobile/Applications/???numbers???/garmin-nav.app/storage-usa/.System folder. The map should be named gmapprom.img (some maps you download may be named gmapsupp.img just rename it)

Note 4. If the map is a locked map u have to create a gmapprom.unl file to unlock the map. Put it in the same .System folder.

Step 8 : Finally, make sure the gmapprom.img file has the correct ownership – i.e. Owner mobile, Group mobile, User read write execute, Group read execute, World read execute.

Now your Garmin USA should work on yr iPhone.
(I just got mine working this morning – so if there are any errors on my instructions please correct me)

Well, I can confirm that JV works for the new 12.1 Thailand map on the iPhone. Tested and confirmed today in Bangkok. First time, and it looks great. 3D map also working. JV wouldn't work on my 3790US, like everyone else.

I would liike to install multiple maps with the same gmapsupp.img file name. With my Montana GPS the map files can be called by any name. eg. USA.img, Europe.img.

How do I install multiple maps with Streetpilot? What is the naming restrictions on the map files and what directory to I copy the map files to?

    Thanks,
    wt

Read Post #1 with care, the info on multiple maps, naming conventions and directories is there. Also see Posts #3 and #7.

There is a problem yet. The warning sound are tree beeps only. I can't figure out how to play the messages (mp3 or wav) included in GTI.

    Best regards,
    going on tests...
My iPhone 4 is jailbroken 5.1.1. I read carefully all 16 pages.

    i put gpi files in:
Adriano/Root Directory/var/mobile/Applications/31829322-D246-4674-801D-2B6CE04360B4/Library/sdcard/garmin/poi, like post 60 say and dont work.

so i put gpi files in
Adriano/Root Directory/var/mobile/Applications/31829322-D246-4674-801D-2B6CE04360B4/Library/sdcard/poi, like post 89 also say and dont work.

    Adriano/Root Directory/var/mobile/Applications/31829322-D246-4674-801D-2B6CE04360B4/garmin-nav.app/storage-usa/poi, and dont work.(post 8)

so i put gpi files in location where post 145 say, and dont work.

in four places above, i set:
    Owner mobile
    Group mobile
    Access Permissions
    User Read,write, exec
    Group Read,write, exec
    World Read,write, exec

and i read post 51, where he say: /Var/mobile/applications/blabla/Library/sdcard/.System/SQlite/
but it is in .db format and poi is in .gpi format. and in this post (51), he also say:
    Group wheel
    Access Permissions
    User Read,write,Exec
    Group Read,exec
    World Read,exec

    so...
1-where i can put my .gpi files (.gpi)?
2-how i set the folder containing the files (folder called "poi")(or another name of folder where i will put my files .gpi)
3-how i set the files .gpi inside the folder "poi"?
4-the link for download "TTS Voices files for your language" (post 1, voice.rar 4.9mb) dont work...where i can download the file?

    sorry for my bad english,
    and
    thanks

Where is the base map file suppose to go? I put it in the same folder as the map img. When I open my garmin program it locks on my gps but it doesn't look like there isn't any map just a car on a blank area? Any suggestions
