It is pity but will BlueChart support be the worth compensation?!
New Monterra software version 3.50 do it!
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

I still see Monterra as a filed computer rather than a marine navigation. Well ok, Garmin view of things.

What is a difference between a filed computer and a marine navigation for usual user? Even more Monterra is the chartplotter with very high-resolution of screen!

Well, yeah. For an usual user there will be no difference. But I don''t see a usual user buys Monty for a chartplotter usage. Why don't he buy for example Nexus 7 instead? Bigger screen, better resolution, cheaper...Have a feeling adding marine support is a desparate move from GRMN. Tring increase the low sales.

Then it is better Samsung 17 TV and rugged PC. The same price as for Nexus!!!
But about increasing of low sales you are right. In our region Monterra and other Android toys is less popular than BlueChart. May be wifes give as gift to one or another man the Monterra.

On August 20th Garmin introduced a new Android device intended for fleet use.
I guess they still feel the Android platform is where they want to be.
Where does anyone think they will go with the Monterra line?

I have wanted one sine the rumors began, but I did not feel it was a stable platform and it seems they don't have much confidence in the unit.

I think the Monterra is EOL. What and when will they do something about it??

Do not put a cross over Monty. Don't get me wrong. I was very excited for this device.
It is a GPS dream, but I think it suffers from the first born issues all Garmin devices have.
I would be all over a Monterra Gen 2 that fixes all the shortcomings of the current model.
    The slow processor.
    The low resolution display.
    The Radio that required headphones.
    The battery usage.
    The dated OS.
    Etc.

I was days away from buying one. I even bought a 64GB card with the expectation of my purchase. There were just too many issues that stopped my purchase

I have been stuck on my iPhone navigation for too long and I am more than ready for a full featured GPS similar to a Monterra on steroids!!
