Default Garmin Reports First Quarter 2015 Results

Newest Garmin Reports First Quarter 2015 Results (and resume of 2014 year) in post #1

    Key words for 2015 Guidance:

“These results highlight our ability to capitalize on growth opportunities in the near-term while still investing in our market share position and long-term product roadmap through increased advertising and research and development expense. These investments are expected to generate ongoing growth potential in 2015 and future years.”

... research and development expense ...
    What do that mean?

    1) New Nuvi model in every month
    2) Patent for unique Garmin cryptographic key plus new restriction for older and third parties maps in SW
    3) Express for Windows 3000 millenium

Tsk tsk! Sarcasm becomes you my friend, i'm not afraid to say. Have you gone soft in your old age? That's actually quite civilised coming from you.....

Btw, as to the meaning of this 'corporate-speak': “These results highlight our ability to capitalize on growth opportunities in the near-term while still investing in our market share position and long-term product roadmap through increased advertising and research and development expense. These investments are expected to generate ongoing growth potential in 2015 and future years.”

My translation: "We kinda know where we've been and we're dimly aware of what we've done, but we don't really know what's gonna happen from here on in and we don't give a flying fig what the shareholders or customers think or expect. We hope everything will be ok though so we can continue to justify our huge salaries ....."

I used to be a bit cynical, but like you Giomen, i've mellowed somewhat with age. Your mellowing is more along the lines of Gorgonzola cheese, mine similar to that of a fine Hermitage .. [hic!].

The abillity of Garmin to feel market's needs, to listen to what customers think and finally make the right decisions is charismatic ... I guess this is something that we can all agree with !!!

Garmin should think to rewind to 2011/12 and start from there all over again. She didn't give a damn what customers think back then also but she made some very good decisions and build some really good devices for Automotive and Outdoor segments that now dropping flat ...
