So is this the correct procedure?

I already have a gmapsupp in my Garmin folder which works fine. Garmin and the mapping works perfectly, I only want to add this one as the maps are meant to be more up to date.

Can someone please explain the procedure?

I also have sw.unl and gmapsupp.unl which was needed when I unlocked the old map IIRC. Do I keep them or delete the lot and just add this new gmapsupp file?

Thank you for the help. I don't want to stuff my perfectly working XT if possible ao any info appreciated....

    just name map 1 "GMAPSUPP.IMG", map 2 "GMAPSUP1.IMG", map 3 "GMAPSUP2.IMG"

Call the .UNL files the same e.g "GMAPSUP2.UNL" and have the corresponding map unlock code in there.
Dump all in "E:\Garmin\" and it should work fine

    look aslo here

Okay thanks. I will try that.

Just another thing if I may - since the map you posted at the start of this thread is "unlocked" and you mention there is no need for MAPID/.UNL can I just name that file "GMAPSUP1.IMG" and drop it in the Garmin folder as you mentioned?

Also is that naming correct - "GMAPSUP1.IMG" as opposed to "GMAPSUPP1.IMG" ie only one "P" in the name, not 2 "P"s with the number "1" added after it?

    Thanks for your help.

Yes you must put directly in garmin folder.
the file name must always be composed with 8 letters or GMAPSUPP or GMAPSUP1 or GMAPSUP2

    Sorry to be a pest....

I renamed the file you posted in the OP GMAPSUP1 and placed it in my garmin folder along with my original map img named GMAPSUPP.

When I go into Garmin XT on my phone and nav to "tools", "manage my data", "map sets" "Detailed maps e:\GARMIN\ it is only showing my original City Navigator Australia 2008 map there.

What am I doing wrong? DO I need to delete the old map and add the new one? Or do i still need a .UNL file for the new map as well?

    Sorry for all this hassle....
