Not all Garmin purchase "have life maps."
Not all Garmin purchase "have life maps."
Exactly the same with TomTom! Their "life time maps" last as long as they bother to support them, not your lifetime, the devices lifetime or any other logical chronological period; just when TT want to push newer/inferior products onto the market!
Yep, a convenient way to get out of providing "life time map" is to put a end-of-life on a product. Hey, it's a dog eats dog world, that's why we got hackers.
Looks like TomTom got rid of 60 "obsolete" models
Garmin probably follow soon.Code:https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/science-technology/911857/TomTom-Sat-Nav-LIfetime-Obsolete
So, getting back to the topic of not posting copyrighted material on the forum, I can understand the need to protect the forum from legal action.
I guess the desire to get access to map updates is driven by the relatively high retail cost of those updates from the OEM (Garmin).
However, a quick search of the 'net, particularly sites like "flea-bay", shows that map updates are generally available for a fraction of the OEM price. (My apologies in advance if a reference to other sites is not permitted)
Just my 2c.
The copies you see on ebay for such a low price are #1. Hacked: #2. Very Old Versions of the Charts. Not worth the price for sure...... Many of them won't work either due to the latest firmware on the devices.
Garmin in my country doesn't sell PND anymore. They only sell those smart watches.Quote:

Which is exactly the opposite of how TT are going. TT are stopping producing/supporting all their "wearables" and concentrating on their PND's again!
