Just a heads up for those that use MapSource still, I downloaded the "Pc install locked", unpacked the gmap folder then unlocked it. Loaded it with GMTK4.0 (I'm sure Mapinstall works good too), and I was able to select which portions of the map I wanted. Routing works just fine. As I was sorting through all the pages asking for passwords (WTF?), I saw some people claiming it doesn't work with MapSource. This got me nervous as its hard to follow a thread riddled with pointless posts about passwords! Well I installed the gmap folder and MapSource reads it just fine now. I assume you can't use MapSource to install the gmap folder, but I was nervous it wouldn't work at all in MapSource. No worries, it works fine!

For the life of me, I don't understand why Garmin is doing away with MapSource. It was so nice to be able to select pieces/parts from different maps and create one IMG file. From what I can find, you can not combine maps in Home Port or Base Camp. I use my Nuvi on the road and on the water! It's nice to have one img file that contains both the street maps and the marine maps. Since I don't follow all the Garmin forums, I don't know what's current or not regarding MapSource and the answer I couldn't find in this thread, so I hope this post helps others who are looking for the answer to the same question.

Please don't use MapSource for working with modern Garmin mapping data on your computer [.gmap folders]. If simply wasn't designed to cope with them and can cause serious routing errors in the images it compiles. It's now very outdated and unsupported by Garmin: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Use only [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to combine parts of different PC installed data to one image, or join already compiled img files with GMapTool: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. All the answers are in our [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], we can't put everything in map threads as you'd understand. Look particularly at the first link in the Tuts: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. BTW, you said you have a nuvi so you can have more than one img file anyway, again read the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], under 'Storing maps in devices.

    Hi Merry Map Makers,

I have just downloaded my LM copy of 2016.10 and it is bigger than the map released on here back in May, which was 2398016 units and today's is 2405504 units. So I suspect it may be important, I don't know but somebody on here probably will ?

PS: Get a haircut and a fresh stogie.
Thank you sir for that info.

Plus, I did get a haircut.
    M'Lady trimmed my split ends.

But, I don't smoke my stogies.
    I chew on them.
    I don't need a new one.
The old one does just fine.

All the more reason to get a new one if you chew on it a lot [as the Bishop said to the Show-girl] or at least get new teeth . Those split-ends seem to go all the way to the follicles methinks, lol.

BTW, co-incidentally [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] has been released a couple of days ago but there has been [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] so best don't go past V7.60 for the present imo.
