The difference is that ASR1 are 'old-school', first introduced for 8xx nuvi series and used also for nuvi 2x60 and 3790. Later units like 34/35xx > use ASR2 technology which is less buggy and works better than ASR1. Language-related *srd files don't need to be changed with the map whereas *.asr/*srx files do.Quote:

Follow what Loly's said above. In explanation, you cannot use the British English Voice Command without both an appropriate english TTS *.vpm voice file in Voice folder and en_GB.srd in ASR folder and the full EU map. You may also need to set the unit to UK locale.

Yes, it won't work without it as said. If that's all you need it's attached here:Quote:
Do I need the "en_GB.srd" file? - Where do I get it from? Any advice on where I begin please.
Ok, Thanks aren't allowed, so I'm gonna pat Catymag, lolypop000 and Neil on the back and ruffle your hair. Managed to get Voice Command working by simply selecting a few language options on Garmin Express and downloading+Installing. Seems to have fixed the problem. Hitting Voice Command app brings up the Voice Command options screen. I wouldn't have been able to work the file associations/dependencies as explained by Neil for quite some time, so that was a great heads up Neil.
I'm seeing G2S files for 37xx in the posts but is G2S applicable to 3490? - There's nothing in 3490's GarminDevice.xml.
What is the 'ExtData' folder for?
TIA

Ciaociao
SRD = Speech Recognition Data
You need the corresponding SRD files, in your case en_GB.srd
There the only info I needed. Why don't they update the speech recognition with GE?Quote:

At the end of the 2015.40 update, my 3790 stopped recognizing speech. Going through webupdater installed the extra files needed.
Working like a charm now.
Thanks.
Don't know why they are not available for download with GE.
When other user start use GE i was still using webupdater and in this way figure out that some updates are only available in Webupdater and some only in GE.
Now when connect device to Pc i always run both ( GE and webupdater ) to see if some update is available for download ;)
It is Garmin developer idea. One day I am update map on one of device with Russian locale and GE download only these files:Quote:
